BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla presents his book on partition to King Charles III

London: The Indian men's and women's cricket teams had a memorable meeting with King Charles III at St. James's Palace in London on Tuesday. The monarch impressed everyone with his in-depth knowledge of the players' personal lives and recent cricketing achievements.

Team captains Shubman Gill and Harmanpreet Kaur, along with other players, coaching staff, and BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, attended the special event.

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla described the occasion as historic and heartwarming. He praised the King’s personal approach and detailed understanding of the players.

“It was a very historic occasion for both our men's and women's teams to be invited to the Palace and meet King Charles. The players were thrilled, especially because he asked about their personal stories. He even inquired whether Arun Jaitley was my friend. When I told him that he had passed away, the King asked me to extend his condolences to the family,” Shukla said.

He added, “The King also asked about Akash Deep’s sister and her health condition. His genuine interest and warmth left a lasting impression on all of us.”

The interaction added a special touch to the teams' visit to the UK, offering a rare and personal moment with the British monarch.
