Dubai: Dubai Police extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court; to Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates; to the Crown Princes; and to all citizens and residents of the UAE, on the occasion of Union Pledge Day.

This day, officially designated by the President of the UAE, commemorates the historic meeting held on 18 July 1971, during which the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, along with his fellow founding rulers, signed the Union Document and the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates, thereby declaring the formation of the Union and announcing the official name of the nation.

His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, stated: “Union Pledge Day marks a pivotal moment in the founding of the UAE. It is not merely a date etched in our national memory, but a meaningful occasion through which we reaffirm our loyalty to the wise leadership, renew our commitment to the principles of unity, and honour the nation that has brought us together under one flag and enabled us to enjoy security, development, and prosperity.”

Al Marri further emphasised that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his fellow founding leaders were devoted to building a united and cohesive nation. Through sincerity, determination, and a deep sense of responsibility, they fulfilled their mission with honour and dedication, paving the way for a stable and secure homeland.

“On this solemn occasion,” he added, “we renew our unwavering pledge to safeguard our homeland, preserve its achievements, and maintain its security and stability. This responsibility calls upon us to continue the journey, inspired by the glory of our past and the accomplishments of our present, to build an even brighter and more prosperous future for the generations to come.”
