Dubai: The Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police has celebrated the remarkable sporting achievements of two volunteer sisters, Sara Abdullah, aged 19, and her sister Warda, aged 17, both of whom are people of determination who moved from volunteering with Dubai Police to standing on international podiums in para taekwondo.  

Fatima Buhjair, Chair of the Positive Spirit Council, explained that the Positive Spirit initiative has succeeded in strengthening community engagement and cultural cohesion, while raising awareness about laws and services and attracting new talents, as happened with Sara and Warda. She stressed that their success is a living example of how the initiative empowers all segments of society.  

International expert and coach Abdul Quddus Ishaq, a member of the Positive Spirit Council, noted that the sisters talent was discovered through their participation in sports rehabilitation programmes. They then received intensive professional training on mental, technical and physical levels, under the direct supervision of Dubai Police, which enabled them to earn their black belt, first Dan, after passing the International Taekwondo Federation examination.  

Their journey was crowned when Warda won a silver medal and Sara claimed bronze at the first Para Taekwondo World Championship, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2024, in a first of its kind achievement for the United Arab Emirates. The sisters were also crowned at the first Arab Police Para Taekwondo Championship, and have maintained ongoing participation in the UAE Open Championship for three consecutive seasons.  

Sara and Warda have been actively involved in community events and initiatives organised by Positive Spirit since 2018, and have stood out in their participation during national occasions. They represent a powerful example of willpower and determination, and of how passion can be transformed into a global achievement, proving that a simple step in volunteering can open the door to limitless opportunities.
