Bengaluru: In a historic move, the Karnataka government has renamed Bangalore City University to Dr.Manmohan Singh City University, honoring the former Prime Minister's contributions to India's economic reforms and education sector.

The announcement was made by Honorable Chief Minister Sidramaiah, who praised Dr. Manmohan Singh's vision and leadership. Dr.R.Vijaya Saraswathy, Founder President & Pro Vice Chancellor of St.Mother Theresa University for Digital Education Excellence, Sustainability Development & World peace, India's first Digital University Since 2014, hailed the move as a "welcome gesture" and a tribute to India's economic hero.

Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, is credited with transforming India's economy through his 1991 economic reforms. His legacy extends beyond his tenure, inspiring future generations.

The renaming ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Humayun Ji, an alumnus of St. Mother Theresa University, and Harbhajan Singh marking a historic remark of a new beginning.

VIKSIT BHARAT SHIKSHA ADHISHTHAN BILL 2025 PASSED

The Indian government has passed the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill 2025, merging UGC, AICTE, and NCTE under a single regulator. The bill aims to streamline higher education governance, enhancing standards and accreditation processes.

The move is expected to improve India's education system, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020.

Even though the State of Karnataka follows its own education policy, the new bill proposes registration of all types of educational institutes including public, private & digital universities.

Knowlege is power and having a good education system and workable policies is feather in a cap be it state, center or international.
