Dubai Police Academy Elevates Student Well-being Through Family Integration Initiative

Dubai: Dubai Police have reinforced their commitment to shaping well-rounded future officers by placing emotional resilience and family support at the heart of student development, through the Parents Council at the Dubai Police Academy.

The Council has emerged as a key driver in human-centred training, ensuring that cadets are not only academically and physically prepared, but also supported on a personal and emotional level throughout their journey.

Brigadier Badran Al Shamsi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Academic and Training Affairs, highlighted that integrating family involvement into the academy environment strengthens the psychological stability of cadets and enhances their readiness to serve. He noted that the Council, comprising 19 parents, plays a vital role in aligning home values with institutional discipline.

This approach reflects a broader vision that prioritises continuous community engagement, where parents are active contributors to their children’s growth, reinforcing national values, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.

Brigadier Dr Sultan Al Jammal, Director of the Dubai Police Academy, emphasised that the Council goes beyond traditional engagement, introducing initiatives that address the emotional needs of students. Among these is the “Touching a Mother’s Heart” initiative, designed to recognise the emotional bond between cadets and their families and its impact on motivation and performance.

Parents also take part in welcoming new cadets, helping ease their transition into academy life and creating a supportive environment from the outset. This early connection fosters confidence and strengthens the sense of unity between students, families, and the institution.

The Council has further contributed forward-thinking ideas, including the development of an encyclopaedia on military values and their influence within Emirati households. This initiative aims to bridge family upbringing with disciplined training, supporting the creation of balanced and principled officers.

In addition, the academy has organised joint sports and cultural events involving parents, reinforcing relationships and encouraging open communication. The Council’s presence in national events, graduation ceremonies, and major tactical competitions reflects its growing role as a pillar of community engagement.
