Al Qasimia University holds fourth strategic performance forum

Sharjah: Under the theme “Effective Planning and Continuous Evaluation, Al Qasimia University organised the Fourth Strategic Performance Forum for the 2025–2026 academic year at the headquarters of Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The forum brought together members and representatives of college advisory councils, university academic and administrative leaders, college deans, and directors of centres and departments.

In his opening remarks during the forum held yesterday, Professor Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, affirmed that organising the Fourth Strategic Performance Forum reflects the wise vision and continuous support of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Founder of Al Qasimia University. He noted that this support strengthens the university’s role in building a multicultural academic environment that combines quality education, knowledge service, and the promotion of Islamic and humanitarian values.

He added that the forum also reflects the ongoing follow-up of Professor Jamal Salem Al Tarifi, President of Al Qasimia University, in consolidating a culture of institutional planning, enhancing performance measurement methodologies, and developing institutional work across the university’s various units. He pointed out that the university is moving forward with a clear vision aimed at establishing an institutional model based on scientific planning and impact measurement, while transforming strategic objectives into measurable outcomes and sustainable development.

Professor Al Khalaf explained that the university’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan represents an integrated framework for developing academic and administrative performance and enhancing the quality of outcomes in line with higher education trends and future requirements. He stressed that the forum represents a significant institutional milestone for reviewing progress in implementing operational plans and measuring performance indicators. 

The forum was attended by Dr Aisha Abu Khater, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Focus on strategic planning and institutional performance
The forum’s discussions focused on monitoring progress in implementing operational plans and reviewing the alignment of initiatives launched by colleges, deanships, centres, and administrative units with the approved strategic pillars and objectives.

The university’s new strategic plan is based on five main pillars: education and learning, scientific research, students and graduates, governance and institutional effectiveness, and community and sectors.

The forum programme also included a presentation on the university’s strategic performance indicators delivered by Professor Awad Al Khalaf, spotlighting the key features of institutional performance under the new strategic plan.

AI-focused brainstorming session
The forum also featured specialised sessions reviewing strategic performance indicators for colleges, deanships, and centres, in addition to a brainstorming session on one of the strategic initiatives related to maximising the use of artificial intelligence technologies. The session aimed to enhance institutional participation and develop mechanisms for implementing future initiatives.

Participants stressed the importance of aligning with the outcomes-based evaluation framework issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, developing the institutional performance system, and enhancing the quality of reports to support data-driven decision-making and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement across all university units.

Commitment to strategic goals
The forum concluded by emphasising the importance of following up on the implementation of its outcomes and recommendations during the coming phase to support the achievement of the objectives of the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan and strengthen the university’s ability to transform its strategic goals into sustainable, measurable, and continuously developable institutional results.
