Dubai: The Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police continued its ‘Shade and Reward’ initiative for the fourth consecutive week, this time in the Wadi Al Safa area (Versailles Tower). The initiative was carried out in cooperation with the General Department of Police Stations, represented by Al Barsha Police Station; the General Department of Human Rights; the Dubai Police Health Centre; the ‘Thank You for Your Giving’ volunteer team; and Abu Alnaga Real Estate Development Company.

The initiative saw the participation of over 800 labourers, who received cold water, meals, and umbrellas. They were also given awareness and health messages aimed at enhancing preventive awareness and promoting health during the summer months.

As part of its commitment to occupational safety, labourers were also educated about the risks of heat stress. These efforts align with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's 'Midday Break' policy, which prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, from 15 June to 15 September.

The Dubai Police Health Centre also participated by providing health awareness and guidance to labourers, reinforcing the importance of preventing heat stress and following proper health practices during working hours. This contributes to maintaining their health and safety while reinforcing a culture of prevention, especially during the summer months when temperatures rise.

Ms. Fatima Ahmed Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, affirmed that continuing the initiative for the fourth consecutive week reflects the commitment of Dubai Police and its partners to reaching labourers in their workplaces and translating the wise leadership's vision of putting people first and prioritising community work.

Buhajeer stated: "We continue to implement the 'Shade and Reward' initiative because we believe that true giving is that which reaches people in their workplaces and enhances their sense of appreciation and care. Labourers are partners in the development journey, and what we offer them is a message of gratitude for their sincere efforts, and an embodiment of the values of compassion and solidarity that characterise the UAE".

She continued: "The initiative places great importance on the awareness and health aspects, especially regarding heat stress prevention, as it has a direct impact on protecting labourers' health and safety. We are proud of the effective partnership with all participating entities, which reflects the integration of roles between government institutions, the private sector, and volunteer work, contributing to reinforcing a culture of community responsibility and achieving the highest levels of quality of life."

At the end of the event, the labourers expressed their gratitude to the organising entities, affirming that the care they experienced reflects the authentic values upon which the UAE is built and motivates them to continue giving in a safe and stable work environment.
