Dubai: Dubai Police has delivered an awareness lecture to students participating in its Summer Student Programme, introducing them to the responsibilities of sports spectators and encouraging positive behaviour that contributes to a safe and enjoyable sporting environment.

The session was organised through the Your Commitment is Happiness initiative as part of the Summer Student Programme, held under the theme “Our Summer is Security, Happiness, Innovation and Leadership” in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority, a number of external organisations, and several general departments and police stations.

The lecture was presented by Lieutenant Nayef Sultan Al Ketbi, Coordinator of the Your Commitment is Happiness initiative, who explained the responsibilities of spectators under UAE Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 concerning the security of sports facilities and events.

Lieutenant Al Ketbi said the initiative aims to strengthen engagement with sports fans and unite efforts to promote a culture of positive support that reflects the UAE’s civilised image at sporting venues.
He explained that the initiative raises awareness of the obligations placed on sports spectators under the federal law governing the security of sports facilities and events, helping fans understand their role in creating a safe and respectful sporting atmosphere.

He added that the legislation provides a comprehensive framework to safeguard athletes, spectators and sports venues through advanced security standards and procedures aligned with international best practice for managing the safety and security of sporting events.
