UAE-based Hotpack acquires major stake in Oman’s Pride Packaging, strengthens regional footprint

Dubai: Hotpack, UAE-headquartered global sustainable packaging manufacturer, has acquired a major stake in Pride Packaging, a leading corrugated packaging manufacturer and subsidiary of Sea Pride, the largest private fisheries company in Oman. The acquisition will see Hotpack enter manufacturing in the Sultanate through the establishment of an integrated packaging complex in Barka, a coastal city in the northern region of Oman.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the partnership was signed up at the recently concluded ‘Inspire Oman Investors Summit’, organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Muscat, in the presence of HH Sayyid Mohammed Salim Al Said and Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OCCI.

Expanding Hotpack’s manufacturing capabilities across more GCC markets, the first-of-its-kind packaging production facility in Oman will bring multiple packaging solutions under one roof to meet the region’s growing demand for sustainable and recyclable packaging solutions.

Commenting on the foray into Oman’s industrial sector, Mr. Abdul Jabbar PB, Group CEO and Managing Director of Hotpack, said, “The investment would strengthen the company’s presence in Oman and expand its manufacturing footprint in the GCC. Having served the Omani market for nearly three decades, establishing a local manufacturing facility is a natural step in our regional growth strategy. We appreciate the Omani government’s support for the project and would focus on developing local capabilities and building long-term partnerships.”

“Our strategic expansion plans and targeted investments over the next five years in Oman and other countries, including Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Jordan, and India, highlight our commitment to becoming a global leader in the packaging industry. By leveraging our established market presence and expanding into new regions, we aim to achieve significant growth and improved financial performance, ensuring a sustainable and profitable future,” he added.

Mr. Ameen Mohammed Sait, CEO of Sea Pride Group of Companies, said, “Our partnership with Hotpack marks an important milestone in the development of Oman’s packaging industry. The integrated packaging complex in Barka will combine Hotpack’s international manufacturing expertise and technological capabilities with our local market knowledge.”

“We believe this collaboration will strengthen domestic production, improve access to high-quality packaging solutions and support the evolving needs of businesses across Oman. Beyond expanding manufacturing capacity, the project reflects our commitment to creating opportunities, developing local talent and contributing to the Sultanate’s industrial growth in line with Oman Vision 2040 and its sustainability ambitions,” he added.

As part of its Vision 2030 global expansion strategy, Hotpack launched its AED 1 billion investment plan in 2023, beginning with expansion in Saudi Arabia and India, followed by the US in 2025 and Malaysia in 2026, and now entering Oman’s industrial sector. Over the next five years, the company plans to roll out multiple manufacturing projects across the region and other parts of the world.

The company has been present in the Omani market since 1998, with its operations based in Ruwi. Nearly three decades later, the company is moving into a new phase of growth by investing in local manufacturing capacity to bring its expertise in advanced packaging closer to Omani businesses.

“Our new plant aims to meet local demand for packaging solutions in a sector that is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.36 per cent. It will also support high-volume business requirements and strengthen domestic packaging supply capacity,” Mr. Abdul Jabbar said further.

Speaking about the role of Hotpack in supporting Oman’s industrial growth, he elaborated, “Our partnership with Pride Packaging brings together complementary strengths. Hotpack contributes international manufacturing experience, technical standards and product innovation, while Pride Packaging offers deep local knowledge and established operations in Oman. Working together allows us to serve customers more effectively and respond faster to market needs.”

“We expect that our partnership will enhance local production capabilities and strengthen our ability to meet the growing demand for quality packaging solutions. Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen local access to dependable, high-quality packaging while building the technical and manufacturing capabilities needed to support Oman’s growing industrial sector,” he said.

“More than a manufacturing facility, the Integrated Packaging Complex represents an investment in Oman’s future, creating opportunities, empowering Omani talent, strengthening local industries, and advancing sustainable manufacturing. The project marks a bold step towards Oman Vision 2040 and the nation’s Net Zero 2050 ambitions,” Mr. Abdul Jabbar said.

Hotpack operates a total of 25 manufacturing facilities across 17 countries and exports its portfolio of more than 4,500 products to 107 markets, catering to various industries, including food, retail, hospitality, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and consumer-packaged goods sector.
