Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of participants in the “Basic Motorcycle Training Course,” organised at the Civil Defence Academy, with the participation of personnel from the Ministry of Defence and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Major General Salem Abdullah bin Barrak Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, alongside a number of officers, officials and distinguished guests.
His Excellency Major General Salem Abdullah bin Barrak Al Dhaheri stated that the implementation of specialised training courses reflects the Authority’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the efficiency and flexibility of emergency response operations in addressing various challenges. He emphasised that empowering national personnel and equipping them with the latest skills and knowledge contributes to the delivery of proactive emergency response services in accordance with the highest international standards.
His Excellency further highlighted the importance of specialised training courses in developing capabilities and expertise, noting that they form an integral part of the Authority’s strategy to establish an advanced prevention and emergency response system and enhance the capabilities of its personnel. These efforts support Abu Dhabi’s objectives of achieving advanced levels of protection and reinforcing its position among the safest and most secure cities in the world.
This type of training forms part of the Authority’s efforts to enhance the operational readiness of its frontline paramedics and firefighters, enabling them to carry out rescue and incident response duties with a high degree of skill, speed and precision.
The course aimed to develop participants’ tactical motorcycle riding skills and strengthen their ability to manoeuvre and respond effectively to varying weather conditions, terrain and unexpected road hazards, ensuring rapid arrival at incident scenes and effective on-site emergency response.
The training programme combined theoretical instruction with intensive practical exercises delivered through progressive stages. It began with foundational training in motorcycle handling and control techniques, as well as familiarisation with motorcycle components. This was followed by an advanced stage focusing on maintaining control at different speeds and the effective use of braking systems. The programme culminated in training on rapid field response and managing changing conditions and potential hazards while riding.
The graduation ceremony began with a reception for guests, followed by the UAE National Anthem and a welcoming address. It also featured practical motorcycle demonstrations and simulated scenarios, during which the graduates showcased some of the skills they had acquired throughout the course. The ceremony concluded with a commemorative group photograph.
The Authority commended the important role of the Civil Defence Academy and its comprehensive training facilities and environment, which enable the practical implementation of field-based scenarios. It reaffirmed that its specialised partnership with the Academy contributes to enhancing operational readiness and supporting the public safety system.
