Dubai Police raises Awareness of Cargo Drivers on Scourges of Drugs

Dubai: The Dubai Police, represented by the Hemaya International Centre at the General Department for Anti-Narcotics, has recently organized a security awareness lecture for administrators and lorry drivers of private companies working with the cargo village at Al Maktoum International Airport DWC. 

The lecture tackled the psychological and physical dangers of using drugs as well as the negative economic consequences impacts posed by trafficking the harmful substances. It also highlighted local laws pertaining to drugs use and trafficking including Federal Law no. 14 of 1995 on ‘the control of narcotics and psychotropic substances and its amendments which criminalizes the production, import, export, transport, buying, selling, storing and possessing of narcotic and psychotropic substances in the UAE.

The attendees were also reminded on Article 43 of the Federal Law no. 14 which states that no criminal proceedings shall be instituted against any abuser of narcotics or psychotropic substances who voluntarily presents themselves or is presented by their spouse or one of their relatives to the second degree to an addiction treatment unit.

The attendees were encouraged to spread awareness among their peers on the risks posed by narcotics, and to report any suspicious activities or drugs related information to Dubai Police call centre (901).
