Dubai: The Dubai Police, represented by the Future Foresight Centre, has launched the second edition of the ‘Professional Diploma in Future Readiness Foresight’ in collaboration with the University of Sharjah. This program includes 30 trainees, comprising officers and civilians from various general departments and police stations.

Colonel Dr. Expert Hamdan Ahmad Al Ghusiah, Acting Director of the Future Foresight Center, highlighted that future foresight in policing has become vital in all areas of security work. He added, “It is a powerful tool for exploring changes, identifying future trends, and analyzing their impact on police operations. This approach helps prepare for challenges by creating future scenarios that enable the identification of alternatives for effective future predictions. The program aims to enhance the capabilities of the police force in navigating the complexities of future security landscapes.”

Al Ghusiah indicated that specialized professional programs such as the Professional Diploma in Future Readiness Foresight offer a valuable opportunity to prepare an elite group of employees from various key sectors, empowering them to develop a foresight methodology and utilize essential tools for anticipating and designing the future. “This preparation ensures they are ready to adapt to the rapid changes occurring in the region and around the world, enhancing their ability to understand challenges and find effective solutions to emerging issues,” he continued.

Lieutenant Colonel Omar Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Acting Deputy Director of the Future Foresight Center, stated that the Professional Diploma in Future Readiness Foresight serves as an incubator for skill development by equipping participants with essential knowledge and foresight methodologies. “It provides them with quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques that empower them to analyze security changes and deepen their understanding of societal, political, cultural, technological, and environmental phenomena, ultimately enhancing their ability to anticipate and envision the future, he continued.

Furthermore, Al Suwaidi pointed out that the program also familiarizes participants with critical future theories applicable in various areas of police work, providing the resources needed to improve the performance of their units and contribute to innovative projects focused on identifying future opportunities and preparing for upcoming changes effectively.

He also emphasized that the center aims to achieve the core principles of Dubai Police and reinforce its vision of security as fundamental to development, to ensure community safety and maintain public order through efficiency, professionalism, and global excellence. “By enhancing the skills of police officers in handling security challenges and making swift decisions, the program equips them with practical future foresight skills applicable in real-world situations, Al Suwaidi added.

Meanwhile, Aamal Fadel Matar Al Mazrouei, Director of the Future Exploration Department, noted that the diploma has been developed in collaboration with the General Department of Training and features a variety of training tracks and courses designed to empower national talent, enhance competencies, and develop foresight skills.

It’s worth mentioning that the diploma is delivered by a distinguished group of specialists from the University of Sharjah, providing a valuable opportunity to refine the skills of future leaders. Participants gain essential knowledge about future foresight concepts, the relationship between design thinking and foresight, and principles of future cities, global trends, future drivers, and upcoming global challenges. Additionally, they learn how to anticipate the future and define the context, time frame, and scope of future developments—skills that can be applied in various police operations to strengthen security expertise.
