Dubai: The Indian Consulate in Dubai has announced a large-scale event to commemorate the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), which will be held at the Expo Centre Sharjah on June 21.

The announcement was made by the Consul General of India in Dubai, Satish Kumar Sivan, during a curtain raiser event hosted at the consulate.

"We are delighted to reach that time of the year when the entire community—Indians and all residents of the UAE—comes together to celebrate holistic health. Though yoga originated in India, it is a gift for all of humanity," said Sivan. "As the UAE celebrates the 'Year of Community,' we are proud to present the 11th International Day of Yoga in Sharjah."

Sivan also introduced a dedicated website for participant registration https://cgidubai.zohobackstage.in/InternationalDayofYoga2025-11thEdition#/?lang=en, emphasizing that registration is mandatory using either an Emirates ID or passport. He encouraged members of the Indian diaspora, international residents, yoga practitioners, and wellness enthusiasts across the UAE to join the event.

The event will be held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” and is being organized in collaboration with various yoga organizations and community groups. The focus will be on highlighting the holistic health benefits of yoga—a timeless wellness tradition from India that has gained worldwide recognition.

Sivan noted that last year’s celebration in Dubai drew nearly 6,000 participants, even though only 5,000 had pre-registered. A similar turnout is anticipated this year at the Expo Centre in Sharjah.
