Dubai: Dubai Police, through the Positive Spirit Council in collaboration with Nad Al Sheba Police Station, the General Department of Human Rights, and the “Thanks for Your Giving” volunteer team, launched the “Shade and Reward” initiative to promote workers’ awareness of the risks of working in high-temperature areas. 

As part of the initiative, umbrellas were distributed to workers to use while moving between locations, helping them avoid heat exhaustion.

Fatima Buhjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, explained that the initiative, held in the Nad Al Sheba area, benefited 300 workers. Alongside distributing umbrellas, organisers offered valuable guidance on preventing heat exhaustion and sunstroke, emphasising the importance of drinking plenty of water and following other health and safety measures.

She added that the General Department of Human Rights also briefed workers on their legal rights and the services Dubai Police provides to them. The session included advice on contacting 901 for non-emergencies and 999 for emergencies only, in addition to traffic safety tips and information about Dubai Police’s Victim Support Service.

Buhjair stressed that this initiative is part of Dubai Police’s activities marking the UAE’s Year of the Community, which aims to launch impactful projects that reinforce the culture of shared responsibility. It also aligns with the Positive Spirit Council’s mission to support Dubai Police’s strategic goals of enhancing safety, security, and community engagement across all segments of society, improving quality of life, and fostering social harmony, tolerance, and respect for others.
