Sharjah: Sharjah Police has reported a 30 per cent reduction in workplace accidents during the first quarter of 2026, compared to the same period last year, according to officials.

Participation in HSE exhibition
Colonel Rashid Ahmed Al Fardan, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department at Sharjah Police, stated that the force’s participation in the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Exhibition aimed to showcase best practices in occupational safety.

Proactive safety measures
He explained that these practices involved forming a 24/7 duty team to ensure an immediate response to workplace incidents, along with enhancing collaboration with local government entities through joint field visits and inspection campaigns.

Training and awareness initiatives
Sharjah Police also provided 20 free licences for occupational safety and health officers in the private sector, in addition to organising four awareness workshops covering key topics such as working at heights, hazardous materials management, and the role of government and private sectors in workplace safety.

Enhancing safe work environments
Al Fardan noted that these initiatives aim to establish safe and healthy working environments, safeguard workers and property, and minimise occupational risks.

He confirmed that the combined efforts and proactive programmes contributed significantly to reducing accident rates, achieving a 30 percent decrease during Q1 2026.
