Positive Spirit Council Continues 'Shade and Reward' Initiative for the Third Week with Cleaning Engineers in Warsan
- July 07, 2026
Dubai: For the third consecutive week, the Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police continued its 'Shade and Reward' initiative in support of cleaning engineers in the Warsan area. The initiative is part of joint efforts to enhance quality of life, strengthen values of community responsibility, and care for field workers.
The event was carried out in cooperation with the Waste Operations Management Team at Dubai Municipality, as well as the General Department of Human Rights, the General Department of Operations, the General Department of Traffic, the General Department of Criminal Investigations, and the General Department of Police Stations.
The initiative saw the attendance of over 150 cleaning engineers. It included the distribution of cold water, meals, and umbrellas, along with awareness programmes aimed at raising health and professional awareness and providing moral support to this group, which plays a pivotal role in maintaining the civilised appearance and public cleanliness of the emirate of Dubai.
The event also included raising awareness among cleaning engineers about the risks of heat stress, in line with the ongoing commitment to personnel safety and providing a safe work environment, especially as summer reaches its peak temperatures. This aligns with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announcement regarding the implementation of the Midday Work Ban policy from 15 June to 15 September.
The awareness sessions also included an explanation of the concept of heat stress – the internal pressure and the body's vital response to adapt to high temperatures – and the health risks that may result, requiring adherence to preventive measures. This enhances labourer safety, maintains their readiness, and plays a pivotal role in preserving the safety of human resources and safeguarding their field achievements.
Ms. Fatima Ahmed Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, affirmed that the continued implementation of the 'Shade and Reward' initiative for the third consecutive week reflects the commitment of the Council and its partners to strengthening a humanitarian and community approach and reaching out to various groups that make significant efforts in serving the community.
She stated: "We are proud to dedicate this initiative to cleaning engineers who carry out a noble mission and contribute daily to maintaining the cleanliness and civilised appearance of Dubai. It is our duty to express our appreciation to them through humanitarian initiatives that enhance their sense of care and appreciation, and affirm that society values their efforts and continuous giving."
Buhajeer added: "Raising awareness of the risks of heat stress is an essential part of our community responsibility and aligns with national efforts to provide a safe work environment and protect the health and safety of workers, who are the cornerstone of sustainable achievement and productivity. This reflects the commitment of Dubai Police and its partners to enhancing quality of life and safeguarding human resources in various workplaces."
At the end of the event, the cleaning engineers expressed their thanks and appreciation to the organising entities for this humanitarian initiative, affirming that such initiatives enhance the spirit of belonging, foster values of appreciation and care for people, and reflect the civilised and humanitarian approach adopted by the UAE in caring for all segments of society.
