DFWAC Promotes Positive Values Among Children Through ‘Kindness Makes Us Stronger’ Initiative and Reading Sessions at Summer Camps

Dubai: As part of its ongoing efforts to invest in children’s awareness and strengthen their social and emotional skills, the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) continued to deliver its awareness programs across summer camps through a series of interactive activities and experiences designed to instill the values of kindness, tolerance, self-acceptance and acceptance of others, while building self-confidence and encouraging children to express and manage their emotions in a positive and healthy manner.
As part of summer camps organized by Ferjan Dubai alongside the Community Development Authority (CDA) and Al Ameen Service, DFWAC participated by delivering its "Kindness Makes Us Stronger" initiative. The program reached 260 children in total, featuring sessions at Dubai Schools – Al Barsha on July 13 for 90 participants, and at Dubai Schools – Al Khawaneej on July 22 for another 170 children.

By engaging youth during the summer break, DFWAC delivers impactful programs in a safe, interactive setting to foster personal growth and essential life skills. The initiative offered tailored social and emotional development exercises, such as controlled breathing techniques for anger management, the "My Feelings Are Valid" workshop to encourage healthy emotional expression, and the "Mirror" activity to enhance self-esteem by helping children identify their personal strengths.

DFWAC also partnered with the School of Research Science (Al Warqa branch) to run a two-day summer camp for 200 children. Day one centered on an interactive reading of "The Pencil Who found Himself," a tale prompting kids to embrace their unique abilities and build self-worth. Day two brought back the "Kindness Makes Us Stronger" initiative, blending hands-on learning with fun and social interaction.

The programs are aligned with the UAE’s Year of the Family and support the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 by delivering awareness initiatives that promote children’s psychological and social well-being and reinforce the values of respect, tolerance and cooperation. Through these efforts, DFWAC seeks to contribute to raising a more aware and balanced generation capable of building positive relationships within the family and wider community.

H.E. Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director General of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, highlighted the importance of the summer camps as a valuable opportunity to invest in children’s development beyond the traditional classroom setting through interactive programs that help discover their talents, develop their personalities and strengthen their human values.
She said: “Children need more than activities to fill their time during the summer. They need meaningful experiences that broaden their awareness, strengthen their self-confidence, and teach them how to communicate, respect others and manage their emotions in a healthy way.”

She added: “At DFWAC, we are committed to making our summer programs enriching and enjoyable experiences that combine learning through practice with meaningful interaction. We introduce children to essential life skills through innovative approaches that reflect their interests, contributing to the development of a more aware and balanced generation while supporting families in raising children who are confident, responsible and capable of building positive human relationships.”

Al Mansouri noted that the diversity of DFWAC’s summer programs, combining storytelling with interactive activities, reflects DFWAC’s commitment to developing innovative awareness tools that resonate with children and transform positive values and concepts into practical experiences with a lasting impact on their awareness and behavior. This approach stems from DFWAC’s belief that building strong and cohesive societies begins with investing in people from their earliest years.

The summer programs form part of DFWAC’s broader community outreach efforts, which have achieved tangible impact over the years, with the Foundation’s awareness initiatives reaching thousands of children and students through schools, events and community programs. These efforts reflect DFWAC’s continued.
