Sharjah: His Excellency Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, attended the fifth edition of the "Future Dialogue" forum organised by the General Command.

The event, held at the Sharjah Police Academy theatre, was attended by His Excellency Dr Sultan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) alongside various directors general, department directors, and specialists in the fields of future foresight and security operations.

Strengthening readiness through future foresight
The forum opened with an address by His Excellency Major General Dr Ali Ahmed Bu Al-Zoud, Director General of the General Department of Resources and Support Services. He emphasised that the world is currently witnessing rapid transformations that have reshaped the concept of security and expanded the scope of challenges facing security institutions. This necessitates enhanced readiness through anticipating changes, monitoring "weak signals" and early indicators, analysing their implications, understanding their potential dimensions and consequences, and formulating plans and proactive decisions to address challenges before they materialise into reality.

Panel discussion examines future security challenges
The forum featured a panel discussion moderated by Brigadier Dr Sameh Al-Halyan, Director of the Strategy and Corporate Leadership Department, hosting His Excellency Dr Sultan Mohammed Al-Nuaimi. The session addressed key future transformations and challenges and their implications for security operations, emphasising the importance of enhancing readiness and proactivity to keep pace with change. It also reviewed the UAE’s approach to foresight—and the associated readiness and proactive stance in managing transformations—alongside the Emirate of Sharjah’s established visions and strategies for bolstering security and stability and fostering a safe, sustainable environment for the community. Furthermore, the session facilitated an exchange of insights and ideas that enriched the dialogue among attendees.

Future foresight and institutional readiness
Additionally, Captain Houriah Al-Zarouni, Director of the Future Foresight Center Branch at Sharjah Police, presented a session highlighting the importance of future foresight in supporting decision-making and enhancing institutional readiness. She discussed identifying potential opportunities, challenges, and risks, and leveraging future-oriented knowledge to formulate proactive plans and decisions.

Honouring contributions to Future Dialogue
At the conclusion of the forum, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer honoured His Excellency Dr Sultan Mohammed Al-Nuaimi in recognition of his intellectual and knowledge-based contributions to the fifth edition of the "Future Dialogue." His insights and analyses helped deepen the understanding of current transformations and their future dimensions, thereby strengthening future preparedness and supporting institutional readiness and proactive thinking.
