Sharjah: The final round of the Grand Prix of Sharjah - F1H2O UIM World Championship commenced Friday on Sharjah’s Khalid Lagoo, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council.
The event, organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), is taking place from December 6 to 8 as part of the "Sharjah World Championship Week."

Issam Mohammed Khalifa Al Kaabi, Director of the Events and Projects Department at the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, announced the start of "Sharjah World Championships Week" and the final round of the 2024 World Championship for Powerboat Racing - Formula 1 - Road to Sharjah Race, the "Sharjah Grand Prix," with 19 competitors participating.

Al Kaabi confirmed that the Authority has completed all preparations for hosting the 22nd edition of the World Championship for Powerboat Racing, in collaboration with Sharjah’s strategic and government partners, as well as the federal government.

The event, which kicked off today, features 19 competitors from 9 teams worldwide, with 4 racers closely vying for the top spot. The points difference between them is minimal, making the outcome of both the World Championship and Sharjah Championship unpredictable.

Al Kaabi also highlighted new additions for the public this year, including a dedicated area with a viewing platform, electronic games, various restaurants, and small business projects. The Sharjah Institute for Heritage is also participating.

He encouraged the public to attend and enjoy the exciting competitions taking place on Khalid Lake.
