Q:The show premiered on October 26, how has the response been so far from viewers, especially in the Middle East?
A:The response has been very positive, and I feel so humbled by the love and encouragement from viewers, especially in the Middle East. It’s truly heartwarming to see how audiences here connect with the show’s concept and energy. The Middle East has always embraced diverse entertainment with open arms, and to know that Enkile Ennodu Para has struck a chord with such a vibrant audience is deeply gratifying. People are enjoying the mix of humor, unpredictability, and the unique bond we create with contestants. I’m so thankful to everyone who has tuned in and made the show a part of their lives—it means the world to me!
Q:Hosting a game show can be unpredictable—how do you keep your composure in moments of surprise or excitement?
A:Hosting any kind of show for me is an excitement. For that matter, anything related to a reality show just gives me that extra edge over other things because I end up meeting new people and I get to interact with them. You get to share a lot of things; you get to learn a lot of things, but the kind of surprises are, of course, all depending on who is coming in front of you—it is all in their hand. To me, whether I'm hosting or sitting as a judge, I think the excitement is always there because I’m young-at-heart and I enjoy doing all these things with vigour.
Q:You are known for your strong personality and charm—how does that translate into your hosting style for this game show?
A:Acting requires me to embody a totally different person with a different set of traits, personality, thought-process and emotions, but when I'm hosting or when I'm being part of a reality show; it's totally different, there’s a lot of Shweta Menon in it. When I'm acting, there is very little Shweta in it, and more of the personality or the character I am playing. I portray what is being told by the director—and is entirely based on the vision of the director. When I do any kind of show, I take by personality to the show which people love to see.
I was a very shy child growing up; today, I’m more of a people’s person, I enjoy meeting people. This really surprises me. I sometimes look back at myself and say, “Wow, Shweta, you have really improved on that!” or, “You have actually outgrown yourself!”, and it’s nice because I have been a participant in a reality show and I've also been the one to host a reality show, and I have also been the judge. I want to continue to be able to do everything and I want to enjoy. I always ask myself, “Why not?” and remind myself not to kill the kid in me because that kid has always been aspiring and always craving to have more, which has always been my motto.
I also want to thank the entire audience who has given me the platform to be able to do anything. It’s one thing to be given a platform, but it’s another to be encouraged to use it—they give me that freedom and allow me to express myself in anything. I think I can proudly say that I am one of those lucky ones where the audiences have not given me a particular image, and I'll keep thanking them. I’m blessed to be able to say that every age group has shown me the kind of love that keeps me humbled and grateful. So, thank you, once again. Thank you for supporting Enkile Ennodu Para on Asianet.
Q:What is the most fun part of working on the set of Enkile Ennodu Para? Any funny behind-the-scenes moments you'd like to share?
A:The fun fact of working on Enkile Ennodu Para, is that the whole show starts and ends in one jiffy.
The funny moments are twists in the plot, the statements that we keep saying and the kind of arguments that we do even when we know that that exact statement is wrong, but the conviction with which we try to sell our statement to confuse the contestants is really funny. Besides that, some contestants make bloopers; by then, I already can't stop laughing, and I can't keep my face straight for a long time and it's very difficult to control me because I’ll just keep laughing and the whole flow goes for a kaput but it's fun. It's genuinely fun because, as I said, it's the contestants who make the show, not me. I think, for that, I'm really thankful to the contestants who have been coming to our show and making it colourful and making memories.
Q:As someone with experience in acting and other roles in the entertainment industry, how does hosting a game show differ from your other experiences in showbiz? Do you see yourself continuing to host game shows?
A:Well, people always say that I'm a very strong woman just because I voice out my opinion at the right time; and not all the time—I don't keep barking. But, to me, that’s nothing. That's my personality. This is like hosting a game show. So, when you're doing a game show, obviously you have that sportsmanship and you end up telling people to play because there's money involved in it and you want people to be winning and enjoying.
People need to hear it when they come for these kind of shows; it’s the energy which is needed and is very important, and I keep saying that I talk for or I vouch for the people who come for the show and try to help them because, I feel that, they are the ones who help me host and make a style of my own. I don't have my own style per se, but, I think, the participants and guests are the ones who give me a style; they are the ones who convert it into a vibrant game show.
