Abu Dhabi: In celebration of World Animal Day, Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island has joined forces with http://Microchipped.ae, Ma’an, and Volunteers.ae to unite the community with a special initiative.

On Saturday, October 4th the resort will host a free cat adoption day in its Ballroom, which will transform into a welcoming space with over 60 cats awaiting the chance to be adopted into safe and loving homes. Taking place from 2pm to 6pm, families, animal lovers and members of the community are invited to find their purrfect match and potentially find a new member for their family!

This free-to-attend event is open to the public, giving guests the opportunity to learn about the adoption process in a relaxed setting. Light refreshments will be served as they meet the cats and receive guidance from experienced volunteers, who will be on hand to answer questions and share insights into responsible pet ownership. 

The adoption day is endorsed by Ma’an, Abu Dhabi’s authority for social impact, who lends its support as part of the Emirate’s broader vision for community welfare, while Volunteers.ae, the national platform for mobilising volunteers, will bring together passionate individuals to help guide attendees. These volunteers will assist under Microchipped.ae’s direction, following established animal welfare protocols to ensure a smooth and responsible adoption process and a meaningful experience for all. 

Ahead of adoption, all cats will be fully health-checked and vaccinated by Microchipped.ae, ensuring that they are ready to find their forever homes in the best of health. A medical team from Pet Pavilion Veterinary Clinic will also be present to ensure the animals’ well-being and to address general questions about your future pets’ health.

In line with the UAE’s Year of Community, the adoption day goes beyond rehoming cats to inspire collective responsibility and foster compassion. By bringing together government, private organisations and the wider public, Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island celebrates the values of kindness and community at the heart of World Animal Day.
