Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi police announced the arrest of 109 people of different nationalities who have been filming websites, events and trading incorrect information through social media platforms during ongoing events, which would provoke public opinion and spread rumors among the community members.

The Abu Dhabi Police has taken necessary legal and administrative actions due to their due, in the framework of the ongoing efforts by the security forces to monitor and track up violations related to the abuse of social media, stressing that such behaviours are in violation of the laws and regulations applied therein, and stressing the importance of accurate checking, not publishing, or redistributing any other content Reliable, or unreleased by the authorities, therefore has a negative impact on community safety and the course of security procedures.

The public has been urged to obtain information from official authorized sources only, and to undertake not to photograph or publish event sites or related clips, in order to preserve the safety of the procedures followed and to protect the public interest.
