Dubai: Dubai Police have seized a vehicle whose driver engaged in dangerous stunts and reckless behaviour in the Marina, putting lives at risk and disrupting traffic flow, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety.

Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, confirmed that the incident falls under the “Quiet Roads” initiative, which aims to improve quality of life, strengthen community safety, and reduce traffic disturbances and noise in residential areas.

He explained that traffic patrols detected the vehicle performing hazardous stunts, including sudden swerving and reckless driving on a public road. These actions posed a serious threat to the driver and other road users, while also causing disruption to normal traffic movement. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver has been referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan warned against dangerous driving behaviours such as drifting, showboating, sudden lane swerving, and reckless speeding. He stressed that UAE traffic law imposes strict penalties on anyone who endangers lives or property, including vehicle impoundment and referral to court.

He reaffirmed that Dubai Police will continue to take firm action against such violations, intensifying traffic monitoring across key roads and vital areas using both field patrols and advanced smart surveillance systems.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan also urged motorists to follow traffic regulations and act responsibly behind the wheel to protect lives and property. “Members of the public are encouraged to report dangerous behaviour through the “Police Eye” service available on the Dubai Police smart application,” he said.
