Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by the Future Foresight Centre in cooperation with the General Department of Training, organised the ‘Virtual Future Forum’ workshops under the title "Future Police Observatory". The forum aimed to introduce modern scientific methods and their police applications to enhance security and police performance by reading internal and external variables based on monitoring and analysing signals, thereby contributing to the development of scenarios that simulate the future.

The workshop was conducted via remote video conferencing, with the participation of more than 304 participants, including officers and civilian personnel in supervisory roles from various general departments, police stations, corporate performance development offices, committees, councils, and working teams within the force.

Foresight & Readiness

Brigadier Dr. Expert Hamdan Al Ghasia, Director of the Future Foresight Centre, explained that the ‘Virtual Future Forum’ workshops aim to instil a culture of foresight and future readiness, and to prepare a select group of employees across various security sectors. “This will enable them to develop a forward-thinking methodology and apply the necessary tools to anticipate, design, and prepare for the future while keeping pace with rapid changes in the

region and the world. This, in turn, enhances security capabilities to understand challenges and find proactive solutions to address them efficiently and effectively,” he added.

Brig. Al Ghasia also highlighted the pivotal role of the Future Foresight Centre in supporting the security work system through proactive monitoring, future studies and research, and providing information, data, and recommendations that help decision-makers formulate future policies and adopt sustainable strategic projects. He noted that the Future Foresight Centre is a fundamental pillar in achieving the future directions and priorities of Dubai Police, affirming that this approach contributes to building more resilient institutions capable of keeping pace with change and supports Dubai Police's position as a global leader in adopting best practices.

Forum Themes

The Virtual Future Forum covered a set of priority themes, including proactive security monitoring, interpreting monitored signals to shape future scenarios and visions that support decision-making, as well as "how to identify future priorities" and "designing innovative security solutions to address future challenges".
