Sharjah: The Sharjah Police General Command, represented by the Ports and Airports Police Department, in cooperation with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, organised a specialized training course entitled "A Conscious Inspector for Safe Travel."
The four-day course, held at the Sharjah Police Science Academy, was attended by 30 participants and aimed to enhance the inspectors' skills in interacting humanely and professionally with travelers with disabilities.

Institutional partnership and service development
Colonel Matar Al Ketbi, Director of the Ports and Airports Department at Sharjah Police, emphasized that organizing this course is part of the police's ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships with specialised entities and develop the security work system.

This enhances the participants' readiness to interact with diverse segments of society in the workplace, reinforces a culture of supportive and humane service for people with disabilities, and ensures they have a safe and accessible travel experience. It also reflects the police's commitment to providing comprehensive services that consider the needs of all members of society, thus improving the quality of life in the emirate.

Training on communication, rights, and inspection procedures
The course covered a number of specialised topics, including defining the different types of disabilities and their behavioral and psychological characteristics, the rights of persons with disabilities, standards of humanitarian service, and their needs during inspection and travel procedures, alongside developing effective human communication skills and building trust.

It also reviewed the foundations of professional security inspection that takes into account humanitarian and health aspects, featured realistic practical scenarios, and trained participants on the basics of sign language to help facilitate communication with travelers with hearing disabilities and enhance the quality of services provided to them.
