Dubai: The Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police has continued to carry out the "Shade and Reward" initiative for the sixth consecutive week, this time in the Al Barsha area. The initiative was delivered in collaboration with the General Department of Police Stations, represented by Al Barsha Police Station; the Victim Support Centre, represented by the Criminal Community Support Section; the General Department of Traffic; the General Department of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Crime Prevention Department; the Dubai Police Health Centre; and the "Thank You for Your Giving" volunteer team, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life, spread community awareness, and support the workforce directly at their places of work.

The initiative welcomed more than 380 labourers, with meals, refreshments, and umbrellas distributed in a humanitarian atmosphere that reflected the commitment of Dubai Police and its partners to providing care and support to labourers, in appreciation of their efforts and contributions.

The "Shade and Reward" also featured a comprehensive awareness programme on heat stress prevention, aligned with the midday work ban policy. Workers were introduced to the symptoms of heat exhaustion, methods of prevention, and the importance of following health guidelines to safeguard their wellbeing during summer working hours.

The Dubai Police Health Centre contributed by delivering health awareness and guidance to labourers, strengthening their understanding of preventive practices that help safeguard their health and safety, and embedding a culture of health and prevention within work environments.

The Crime Prevention Department of the General Department of Criminal Investigation delivered awareness lectures on phone and electronic fraud tactics, urging labourers not to share their personal or banking information with anyone claiming to represent an official body. The department stressed that Dubai Police never requests banking details or confidential codes via phone calls or messages, nor does it reach out to community members through video calling applications to complete any procedures or transactions. Workers were also advised to immediately report any fraudulent attempts through Dubai Police's official channels.

Meanwhile, Ms. Fatima Ahmed Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, affirmed that the continuation of the "Shade and Reward" initiative into its sixth week reflects its success in reaching a broad segment of labourers and embedding a culture of human care as the cornerstone of development. She noted that the initiative has grown beyond delivering humanitarian support into an integrated platform for providing security, health, and community awareness.

"We believe that protecting society begins with awareness. That is why, each week, we are committed to delivering awareness messages that speak directly to labourers' needs and help them protect themselves from health and security risks, while also providing the humanitarian support that embodies the values of giving and solidarity that the UAE is renowned for," she said.

She continued, "The partnership among Dubai Police's various general departments, supporting entities, and volunteers represents an outstanding model of collaborative institutional work. It contributes to enhancing quality of life and building trust between the security institution and all segments of society, in line with the wise leadership's vision of a more aware, happier, and safer society."

The initiative concluded amid strong engagement from the labourers, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the organising entities, affirming that the care, attention, and awareness they experienced reflect the humanitarian approach embraced by Dubai Police and its unwavering commitment to enhancing the security and safety of all members of society.
