Yusuffali M.A. settles outstanding financial liabilities, helping lift the Hyderabad native’s travel ban

Jeddah: An Indian expatriate who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to financial liabilities and a travel ban, and later suffered a stroke that left him partially paralysed, has returned to India following the intervention of Lulu Group Chairman Yusuffali M.A.

Mohammed Abdul Aleem, 56, a native of Hyderabad, had been staying at the Waqf Darakum shelter in Jeddah after undergoing treatment at King Abdulaziz Hospital.

Aleem had worked in Saudi Arabia for more than 15 years as a salesman and had purchased a vehicle on an instalment plan. Before completing the payments, he returned to India after his wife fell seriously ill.

He later re-entered Saudi Arabia on a new visa and took up employment as a house driver. However, the unpaid vehicle dues led to legal proceedings and the imposition of a travel ban.

While the case remained unresolved, Aleem suffered a stroke that left him partially paralysed. After receiving treatment at King Abdulaziz Hospital, he was moved to the Waqf Darakum shelter, as he had no one in Saudi Arabia to care for him.

After learning about Aleem’s situation, Yusuffali arranged for the outstanding vehicle dues to be settled, paving the way for the travel ban to be lifted. His representatives also coordinated the legal formalities required for Aleem’s return to India.

Lulu Saudi Director Mohammed Haris visited Aleem at the shelter and handed over flight tickets for him and the caregiver accompanying him.

The Indian Consulate in Jeddah issued an Emergency Certificate and expedited the final exit procedures.

Indian Consulate Social Welfare Wing member Shameer Nadvi accompanied Aleem on his journey, while Lulu Regional Director Abdulsalam and Lulu representative Abdul Majeed assisted with the necessary documentation and other formalities.

After all the procedures were completed, Aleem returned to India and reunited with his family. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Yusuffali M.A. and everyone involved in facilitating his return after a prolonged period of hardship.
