Dubai: Dubai Police have marked the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year with a series of visits and activities across government and private schools, strengthening their preventive presence and engagement with students while promoting safety, security and positive behaviour.

Organised by the General Department of Police Stations and the Hemaya Council, the activities welcomed students back to the classroom while reinforcing direct communication between Dubai Police and the wider school community.

The activities were attended by Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics; Brigadier Abdulaziz Al Abdullah, Deputy Director of the Dubai Police Academy; Brigadier Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf, Director of Hemaya International Centre and Secretary General of the Hemaya Council; Lieutenant Colonel Dr Ali Al Matrooshi, Director of the Child and Women Protection Department; Captain Dr Majid bin Saed Al Kaabi, Head of the School Security Initiative Team; Fatima Bohjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council; and a number of officials.

Building Stronger Partnerships with Schools

Brigadier Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf stressed that Dubai Police place significant importance on the beginning of the academic year as an opportunity to strengthen partnerships with government and private educational institutions, including school administrations, teaching staff, parents and students.

He explained that this reflects Dubai Police’s security and community role in supporting a safe and positive educational environment.

According to Brigadier Dr Sharaf, the field visits are designed to establish direct engagement with students from diverse Arab and international communities through programmes combining celebration, awareness and community interaction.

An Integrated Approach to Prevention

Brigadier Dr Sharaf explained that the Hemaya Council brings together several specialised initiatives and programmes, including Hemaya International Centre, the Positive Spirit Council, the School Security Initiative, the Aman Ambassadors Programme and the Naseej Initiative.

These initiatives work collectively to strengthen preventive awareness and build closer channels of communication between students and Dubai Police.

He noted that Dubai Police adopt a preventive and proactive approach that goes beyond responding to challenges after they occur. Instead, the focus is on developing aware and positive generations with strong personalities and the ability to respond effectively to global changes and emerging developments, contributing to the long term security and safety of society.

Safer School Communities

Captain Dr Majid bin Saed Al Kaabi said the School Security Initiative aims to enhance the safety and security of school communities while working closely with teaching staff to address unfamiliar or undesirable behaviours and strengthen trust and communication between the community and the police.

He explained that the initiative delivers activities, lectures and awareness programmes across government and private schools. It also seeks to develop joint strategies for addressing challenges and establish sustainable communication channels between Dubai Police and educational institutions.

Captain Dr Al Kaabi added that direct engagement with students helps deepen their understanding of safety and security while strengthening their trust in law enforcement authorities.

He also emphasised the importance of involving parents in awareness programmes and initiatives, recognising the family’s central role in supporting education, upbringing and positive behaviour among children.

Road Safety and Police Services

As part of the new academic year activities, Dubai Police provided students with guidance on road safety around schools, including the importance of crossing roads only at designated pedestrian crossings.
Students were also introduced to Dubai Police communication channels and the security and community services available to them.
The activities featured the Dubai Police mascot Mansour, luxury patrols and the Mounted Police, while students received gifts and stationery.
