Dubai: Dubai Police has unveiled an ambitious programme of 14 cycling and multisport races spanning eight months from September to April, expanding opportunities for athletes and the wider community to embrace sport as part of an active lifestyle.

The programme was announced during a press conference at the Cycling Hub at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf and includes the Dubai Police Triathlon, Proud of the UAE Race, Positive Spirit Race, Ride with Police, Dubai Police MTB Challenge, Ramadan Games and the Proud of the UAE UCI National Championship.

The calendar is being delivered in cooperation with the UAE Cycling Federation and Dubai Sports Council.

The press conference was attended by Major General Badran Saeed Al Shamsi, Assistant Commander in Chief for Academy and Training Affairs at Dubai Police; Brigadier Obaid Mubarak Al Ketbi, Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency; Brigadier Dr Jassim Al Mulla, Deputy Director of the General Department of Training; Mubarak Mohammad Boasiba, Vice Chairman of the UAE Cycling Federation for Communications and Public Relations; Ali Omar, Director of Sports Development at Dubai Sports Council; along with officers, cycling enthusiasts, media representatives, partners and sponsors.

Sport as a Way of Life

Major General Al Shamsi said Dubai Police is committed to supporting sporting initiatives that enhance quality of life and reinforce the concept of sport as a way of life, contributing positively to the health, safety and happiness of the community.

“Cycling races are among the sporting events that bring sport and the community together, giving participants the opportunity to be physically active in a distinctive competitive atmosphere,” he said.

“They also showcase Dubai and its cultural and tourism landmarks, further strengthening its position as a global destination for sport and tourism.”

He thanked partners, sponsors and media organisations for their continued support and expressed his hope that the season would reflect the UAE’s leading position and achievements across different fields.

Dubai Police Triathlon Makes Its Debut

Major Ahmad Al Bahr, Director of the Sports Excellence Department at Dubai Police, announced that the first Dubai Police Triathlon will take place in October as part of the sporting calendar.

The event will be held in Dubai for the first time after gaining the confidence of the international triathlon federation and being officially included on its global calendar.

Al Bahr said the event responds to the rapid growth and popularity of triathlon globally and particularly in Dubai.

“Our ambition is not limited to delivering an exceptional event that reflects Dubai’s capabilities. Through our recently established team, we also aim to make a genuine mark and compete strongly for international titles,” he said.

“We believe determination and readiness are our path to the podium. Through this challenge, we aim to further establish Dubai as a home for major championships and a capital of sport and determination.”

Proud of the UAE

Captain Saeed Al Marri, a Team Dubai Police cyclist, said the Proud of the UAE Race embodies pride in the nation while showcasing the UAE and Dubai’s advanced infrastructure and world class organisational capabilities.

“This race is more than a competition. It carries a community message about the importance of sport as a way of life while showcasing our city,” he said.

“Proud of the UAE expresses our love for our country and our pride in its ambitious achievements.”

Positive Spirit Race

Captain Yousif Mirza Al Hammadi, Manager of the Dubai Police Cycling Team, described the Positive Spirit Race as a community initiative designed to enhance quality of life, encourage physical activity and strengthen social cohesion.

He said the race aims to make sport a daily choice and a sustainable lifestyle while building connections between the diverse communities and cultures living together in Dubai.

“We believe the role of sport extends beyond competition. It can directly contribute to individual and community quality of life while spreading hope and positive energy,” he said.

MTB Challenge

The Mountain Bike Challenge will return for its third edition as part of the seasonal programme.

Captain Al Hammadi said the challenge responds to growing community interest in mountain biking and adventure sports, particularly among young people.

He encouraged riders to pursue their passion while placing safety first and adhering to all necessary preventive and safety requirements.

Ride with Police

The Ride with Police event will also return following the strong community response to its previous edition at Dubai Autodrome.

Captain Al Marri said the initiative was created as more than a cycling ride. It provides an opportunity for direct engagement between Dubai Police and the community in an active and welcoming environment.

“Ride with Police was designed to be a living platform that strengthens community values and promotes cohesion, partnership and sportsmanship in a safe and inspiring environment for everyone,” he said.

UCI National Championship

The programme will also feature the Proud of the UAE UCI National Championship, scheduled to launch in March 2027.

Together, the events form part of a wider eight month programme designed to connect professional competition, community participation, active lifestyles and Dubai’s growing profile as an international sporting destination.

On the sidelines of the press conference, Major General Al Shamsi honoured Adnan Al Gharbi from Al Bayan newspaper’s sports section, who received the Arab Journalism Award in the investigative journalism category at the Arab Media Summit.
