2 Minutes to Obtain Dubai Police Smart Traffic Fines Instalment Service
- February 17, 2022
Dubai: The Dubai Police's strategy to fully automate the Traffic Fines Instalment Service has recently proved successful when transactions processed through banks, either by credit cards or direct debit from customers' bank accounts, quadrupled and exceeded the traditional instalment method of writing cheques.
Almost Two Million Worth of Savings
The smart, automated service, which cuts process time from 70 to 2 minutes for Dubai Police customers, saves AED 1,711,608 annually in human resources, administrative and operational fees, paperwork, and processing time.
Major Abdulla Yasser Amiri, Director of Revenue and Fund Department in Dubai Police, confirmed that the new Smart service aligns with the Force's strategy to realize community happiness and achieve the government's digital transformation and paperless strategy.
"Dubai Police automatized the service as per the Executive Council Resolution No. (5) of 2019 Concerning Payment by instalments of Fines Payable to Government Entities in the Emirate of Dubai," Maj. Amiri added.
Customer Happiness
"The service, launched in partnership with the UAE Central Bank and Dubai Islamic Bank, can be obtained at all banks in the country, making Dubai Police the first government entity to complete joint transaction processing with the Central Bank, and the first policing agency to include direct debit in its Traffic Fines Instalment Service," Maj. Amiri continued.
"By including direct debit as a payment method to settle traffic fines, Dubai Police ensures the satisfaction and happiness of the public as it reduces paperwork hassles and cuts down the processing time to two minutes when customers apply for the services via the Force's official website of the smart application," Director of Revenue and Fund Department elaborated.
24/7 and Free of Interest
He noted that customers could complete the transaction within 24 hours without service fees or interest. All customers who have bank accounts in the country can benefit from the service with a minimum value of violations of AED 5,000. The service allows vehicle owners to pay instalments for a maximum period of 12 months.
Application Process
Commenting on application methods for the service, Maj. Amiri assured that the payment method through the website or the App is smooth and effective.
"Customers, whether through the website or the App, can select direct discount service and inquire about traffic violations by providing the vehicle number, traffic file number," he explained.
"Then, they have to fill out personal information, including ID number, bank account number and select the instalment period. The application process ends with entering OTP," he concluded.
It is worth noting that Dubai Police has registered the direct debit as a payment method for settling traffic fines in instalments as an intellectual work at the Ministry of Economics.
