CDA and UNICEF launches the Child Rights awareness kit

            Dubai: The Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA), in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF", launched today the Child Rights Awareness Training of Trainers Kit, which comes as part of CDA's efforts to develop an integrated system to protect children's rights and reach a fully enabling and friendly environment for children.
This came during an event organized by CDA in Umm Suqeim Majlis, in the occasion of the Emirati Children's Day, which falls on the15th of March. The event was attended by a group of schools, trainers and friends of children's rights, as well as representatives of a number of the concerned government agencies that support the CDA's child rights awareness programs.
The Training Kit help establishing an integrated scientific and legal reference that directs child rights trainers towards the best training methods and methodologies and awareness strategies appropriate to children, those who deal with them and all members of the community. It also provides comprehensive information on international conventions on the rights of the child explained in a simplified manner.
The general frameworks for social development adopted by CDA is based on spreading awareness of human and child rights among all segments of the community. To achieve this, CDA signed an agreement with the UNICEF office in the Gulf region to enhance their partnership in the field of improving child rights awareness among children, their families and the community.
The training kit for child rights, which is available in Arabic and English, includes four parts. The first part includes an introduction on how to use the kit, the contents and how to benefit from it for trainers; the other three parts are divided based on the children age groups 6-9 years, 10-14 years, and 15-18 years.
Maitha Al Shamsi, the CEO of the Human Rights Sector in CDA congratulated the attendees on the occasion of Emirati Children's Day, an occasion that highlights the efforts made at various levels in the country to ensure that the best interests of the child is achieved.  
“The UAE seeks to move children’s rights from awareness to empowerment. Emirati Children’s Day is an occasion to present the efforts of the authorities concerned with children’s rights in the country and the achievements made in this regard. Our aim is to grant the children their basic rights and raising the level of health and educational services under favorable humanitarian, economic and social conditions.
Al Shamsi said that launch of the child rights training kit, in cooperation with the UNICEF, is one of the fruits of the tireless efforts made by the CDA to reach a community aware of children's rights and qualified to protect them.
For his part, His Excellency Al-Tayeb Adam, UNICEF Representative for the Arab States of the Gulf, extended his warmest congratulations to the United Arab Emirates on the occasion of the Emirati Children’s Day, children, government and people. He said: “As part of the celebration of this day, organized by CDA, we at UNICEF are proud of our partnership with CDA in preparing this kit. We value the important role of the officials and employees of the authority for the future aspirations of the United Arab Emirates towards children. The UAE has been able to achieve significant leaps and transformations in the fields of education, health, protection and child participation thanks to the development policies, programs and initiatives adopted by the country's leadership. The launch of the child rights training kit today is considered a success added to the series of successes and achievements made by the UAE in promoting children’s rights at all levels. This is the first kit of its kind in the country that targets children and teachers in the school community with the aim of creating a deeper understanding of the principles and content of the Convention on the Rights of the Child”.
The friends of children’s rights, from Dubai Schools presented paragraphs and entertainment shows during the celebration of Emirati Children’s Day. An exhibition of the most prominent projects accomplished by schools and trainers in this field was also held on the sideline on the event.
