The 13th edition of the prestigious South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) is officially announced and will take place in Dubai on September 5 and 6, 2025. This grand celebration of South Indian cinema will once again bring together the biggest stars and talents from the industry under one roof.

Brinda Prasad, Chairperson of SIIMA, shared the exciting news through her Instagram handle by posting a promotional poster, confirming the return of SIIMA to Dubai. She wrote, "The biggest celebration of South Indian Cinema is back! Dubai | 5th & 6th September. Get ready for SIIMA’s 13th edition, where stars shine the brightest!"

According to the official SIIMA website, the South Indian International Movie Awards is among the most popular award shows across South India. It boasts the highest TV viewership across the five South Indian states and garners over 1.5 billion digital impressions annually, making it a significant event both on television and social media.

The nomination list for this year’s awards has not yet been released.

Highlights from SIIMA 2024
Last year’s SIIMA saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan win the Best Actress (Critics) award for her remarkable performance in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2. Aishwarya accepted the award in the presence of her daughter, Aaradhya. The award was presented to her by filmmaker Kabir Khan.

In her acceptance speech, Aishwarya said,
"Thank you so very much, SIIMA, for honouring me with this award. It means the world to me because this was a movie so close to my heart, Ponniyin Selvan, directed by my guru, Mani Ratnam. Honouring my work as Nandini is a celebration of the entire team’s effort."

Her co-star Chiyaan Vikram also won the Best Actor (Tamil) award at SIIMA 2024.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster, directed by Mani Ratnam. The film featured narration by veteran actor Kamal Haasan and music composed by Oscar-winner AR Rahman.

With this year’s event drawing closer, fans of South Indian cinema eagerly await more announcements, including the list of nominees.
