Sharjah Police hosts forum on security media challenges

Sharjah: The Sharjah Police General Command, through its Strategy and Corporate Leadership Department, organized the “Future Dialogue” Forum at the Sustainability Hall in Police Headquarters. The forum aimed to foster forward-thinking discussions around emerging trends in security media, institutional development, and the evolving role of media in enhancing public safety, government communication, and quality of life.

Key attendees and strategic participation
The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including His Excellency Brigadier Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajil and His Excellency Brigadier Dr Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, along with department directors and officers. International futurist Dr Derek Woodgate, a partner in the Sharjah Police Future Foresight Laboratories, also took part, accompanied by foresight specialists from various universities and think tanks.

Presenting future projects and strategic themes
The forum showcased results from the Security Media Future Foresight Lab, which identified six future projects, six actionable scenarios, and 49 future-focused opportunities under six key themes: Data and Governance, Participatory Media, Artificial Intelligence, Gamified Awareness, Smart Cities, and Predictive Digital Assistants.

Institutional achievements and global partnerships
Colonel Dr Sameh Al Halyan highlighted Sharjah Police’s commitment to foresight and innovation, noting the qualification of over 80 foresight experts and the implementation of 16 future projects. Sharjah Police also earned two awards at GITEX 2024 for top innovative government projects and has expanded partnerships with institutions like the University of Dubai, Future Lab Center, and RIT University.

Academic contributions and media challenges
Academic experts from RIT Dubai—including Dr. Yousef Mahmoud Al-Assaf, Dr Ozkan Saritas, and Dr Muzaffar Shaker Daifallah—presented key challenges facing the future of security media, contributing to a rich dialogue on innovation, trust-building, and responsive communication strategies.

Honouring partners and closing remarks
The forum concluded with a ceremony honoring key contributors and partners, emphasizing the ongoing importance of innovation in security media. The event reaffirmed the media’s crucial role as a bridge of trust between police institutions and the community, and as a driver of public safety and proactive governance.
