108 Teams and 1,272 Players Join Dubai Police Ramadan Community Engagement Forum

Dubai: Dubai Police have concluded the Ramadan sports tournaments held in Hor Al Anz as part of the “Ramadan Community Engagement Forum” initiative, organised under the umbrella of the Ministry of Interior.
The tournaments were organised by the Positive Spirit Council in cooperation with the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, Al Muraqqabat Police Station, and several strategic partners, drawing strong community participation over a two-week period.
The closing ceremony was attended by Brigadier Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Maamari, Director of the Hemaya International Centre at the General Department of Anti-Narcotics; Fatima Bohjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council; Waleed Mohammad Al Saadi from Dubai Municipality; Omar Al Kindi from the Dubai Sports Council; and Hassan Ouda from Dubai Media Incorporated.
The tournaments featured a variety of sporting competitions including football, cricket, and tug of war. A total of 108 teams participated, including 16 football teams, 32 cricket teams, and 60 tug of war teams, bringing together 1,272 players from diverse nationalities and cultures. The competitions were held in a vibrant sporting atmosphere that reflected the spirit of tolerance and community diversity that characterises Dubai.
Alongside the sporting competitions, the closing event also included awareness lectures, cultural competitions, and entertainment activities targeting different segments of the community. These activities aimed to promote the culture of positive spirit, strengthen community awareness, and reinforce concepts of prevention and cooperation among community members.
Fatima Bohjair emphasised that these tournaments reflect the council’s commitment to strengthening community values and improving quality of life, while reinforcing the concept of community security within residential neighbourhoods. She noted that Ramadan community initiatives provide an important platform for direct engagement with residents from various nationalities and cultures.
She added that the Positive Spirit Council continues to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence, and cultural connection among members of the community, highlighting that sport remains one of the most effective tools for building positive communication bridges between different segments of society. The wide participation in the tournaments reflects the community’s trust in Dubai Police initiatives and their willingness to engage with programmes that raise awareness and promote positive values.
During the ceremony, organisers honoured strategic partners including Dubai Municipality represented by the Parks Department, the Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Media Incorporated, and the General Department of Transport and Rescue. Referees, organisers, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event were also recognised.
In the sports competitions, Al Bairaq Tourism Team won the football championship after securing first place, while Arsenal Team finished second. In the cricket tournament, HRT Team took first place, followed by Ali Gladiators in second. Winners of the tug of war competition were also honoured. Individual awards included Best Player for Captain Mohammad Hassan from Arsenal, Best Goalkeeper for Abdulrahman Majid from Al Bairaq, and Top Scorer for Othman Dilo from Al Bairaq.
The ceremony also included an award for the most viewed video on social media, supporting digital community engagement and the spread of positive messages across online platforms.
