Sharjah Police increase patrols ahead of rainfall

Sharjah: Sharjah Police (SP) have stepped up traffic patrols across the city in anticipation of unsettled weather, positioning officers along major roads and busy junctions to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce risks for motorists.
Deployment and coordination

Lieutenant Colonel Dr Marzouq Khalfan Al Naqbi, Director of the Patrols Department, stated that patrol teams are actively monitoring traffic and coordinating with other authorities to manage any incidents promptly.

Patrol coverage and traffic management

Around 80 patrol cars have been deployed in areas prone to water accumulation. In some cases, lanes may be temporarily closed, with traffic diverted and officers guiding drivers to maintain safety.

Safety advice for motorists

Dr Al Naqbi urged drivers to exercise caution in wet conditions by slowing down, maintaining safe distances, avoiding distractions, and checking tires and brakes before travel. Residents are advised to stay off the road unless necessary.

Warning on flood-prone areas

He highlighted the dangers of valleys and flood channels, which can become hazardous during heavy rain due to rising water levels and fast currents, and urged the public to avoid these areas to stay safe.
