Dubai Police Explore Smart Policing Solutions for Rural and Desert Areas

Dubai: Dubai Police organised a specialised foresight retreat focused on developing future ready policing solutions for rural and desert areas, with discussions centred on innovation, advanced technologies, and enhancing security services in remote regions.
Held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, the retreat titled “The Future of Security Work in Rural and Desert Areas” brought together Brigadier Dr Hamdan Al Ghassiya, Director of the Centre for Future Foresight; Brigadier Saeed Hilal Mohammad Al Khayyeli, Director of Al Faqa’a Police Station; Brigadier Dr Mubarak Saeed BuNawas Al Ketbi, Director of Lehbab Police Station; along with officers and officials from various police stations.
In his opening remarks, Brigadier Saeed Hilal Mohammad Al Khayyeli said the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and the ruler of Dubai, has established innovation and future foresight as essential pillars driving Dubai towards global leadership across all sectors, including policing.
He noted that Dubai continues to set international benchmarks through creative approaches that improve services and strengthen community wellbeing and security.
Future Focused Discussions
Brigadier Dr Hamdan Al Ghassiya emphasised that the Centre for Future Foresight, in cooperation with the General Department of Police Stations and represented by Lehbab and Al Faqa Police Stations, is keen to organise regular foresight sessions to generate innovative ideas and support the continuous development of policing systems in line with government priorities and future aspirations.
He explained that the retreat addressed both scientific and operational aspects of policing in remote areas, while also focusing on preparing officers to anticipate future challenges and adapt to rapid developments that may affect policing operations and long term sustainability.
Enhancing Security in Remote Areas
Brigadier Dr Mubarak BuNawas Al Ketbi described the retreat as a reflection of Dubai Police’s commitment to embedding future thinking into security work and creating innovative solutions that strengthen policing efficiency.
He added that the retreat provided a valuable platform for exchanging ideas, discussing proposals, and strengthening cooperation between different departments and sectors within Dubai Police.
The retreat featured discussions on the future of police stations serving rural and desert communities, reducing bureaucracy, introducing innovative institutional practices, reviewing the Rural Areas 2040 foresight vision, exploring international policing experiences in remote regions, and identifying future security challenges in rural environments.
