Sharjah Police organises \'Health for All\' to enhance inmates\' healthcare

Sharjah: Sharjah Police, through its Correctional and Rehabilitation Institution, launched a health initiative called "Health for All," providing inmates with access to specialised medical care through a joint effort with the Sharjah Health Authority and the University of Sharjah. The initiative is a clear sign of the institution's ongoing drive to look after the people in its care—not just in terms of security, but also in terms of health and dignity.
None of this happened in a vacuum. The Sharjah Police General Command has been working to build genuine relationships with health and community bodies — and this initiative is one of the results. The thinking is straightforward: better outcomes come from working together. That means putting inmates' physical, social, and human needs front and centre, and not cutting corners when it comes to the standard of care they receive.

From dental chairs to eye checks
A mobile dental clinic was brought in to reach inmates where they are, making treatment accessible without the usual logistical hurdles. Eye specialists and dermatologists were also present, conducting check-ups, prescribing treatments, and answering health questions on the spot. The goal was not simply to address existing problems, but to spot issues before they become serious — giving inmates a real chance to leave in better shape than when they arrived.
