Ultimate Athletics Academy Dominates Inaugural Dubai Open Athletics Academies Championship Finals

Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has successfully concluded the finals of the inaugural edition of the "Dubai Open Athletics Academies Championship". Organized in close cooperation with Dubai Police and corporate operating partner ESM, the landmark tournament took place at the Dubai Police Officers Club Stadium. The event witnessed extensive participation from an elite cohort of young athletes representing the emirate’s leading specialized sports academies.
Ahmed Salem Al Mehri, Director of the Sports Talent Development Department at the Dubai Sports Council, participated in honoring the tournament champions. He highly commended the exceptional technical standards and competitive spirit demonstrated by the young athletes throughout the competitions.
"This championship represents a practical execution that aligns seamlessly with the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, which aims to bolster the sustainability of sports academies, enhance training and competitive frameworks, and discover and nurture young talents to propel them toward international excellence," Al Mehri stated. "Furthermore, it serves as a primary preparatory milestone for the upcoming Dubai Open Athletics Championship."
Al Mehri added that the outstanding results recorded during the event underscore the continuous evolution within Dubai's sports academy sector, which directly contributes to supplying the sports ecosystem with a qualified generation of athletes capable of competing in major official championships.
Championship Standings
The final results of the tournament saw Ultimate Athletics Academy capture the overall top spot in the boys' division with 790 points. Titan Athletics Academy secured second place with 471 points, followed closely by AIS Athletics Academy in third place with 457 points, while Champion Athletics Academy finished fourth with 185 points.
In the girls' division, Ultimate Athletics Academy maintained its absolute dominance, claiming first place with 879 points. AIS Athletics Academy earned the runner-up position with 577 points, while Titan Athletics Academy finished third with 131.5 points, and Champion Athletics Academy took fourth place with 126.5 points.
Sprints and Middle-Distance Highlights
The individual track events witnessed remarkable record-breaking performances. In the girls' Under-16 category, Amelie Liverpool Wilson (Ultimate) stormed to victory in both the 100m and 200m sprints, clocking times of 12.06 seconds and 25.08 seconds, respectively. Ines Boucher achieved an identical double-victory in the Under-18 category, securing the 100m in 12.01 seconds and the 200m in 24.90 seconds.
In the men's track events, Nareshkumar X (Titan) captured first place in the Under-20 100m sprint with a time of 10.82 seconds. Caden Major (Ultimate) dominated the Under-18 division, winning both the 100m and 200m races with times of 11.10 seconds and 22.67 seconds, respectively.
The 400m events saw Arnab X (Titan) clinch the boys' Under-18 title in 51.44 seconds, while Angelo Blondel (Ultimate) took the boys' Under-16 title in 54.16 seconds. In the girls' division, Thalia O'Reilly (Ultimate) won the Under-18 race in 58.29 seconds, and her teammate Rachel Gough secured the Under-16 crown in 1:00.15 minutes.
In the middle-distance events, Samuel Smithson (Ultimate) won the boys' Under-20 1500m race in 4:07.44 minutes, while Hattie Garrett (Ultimate) secured the girls' Under-16 1500m title in 4:54.62 minutes. William Breen (Ultimate) took first place in the boys' Under-16 800m with a time of 2:01.18 minutes, while Sofia Coetzee (AIS) won the girls' Under-16 800m event in 2:20.46 minutes.
Hurdles and Jumps Competitions
AIS Athletics Academy registered top placements in the hurdles events. Callum Coppock won the boys' Under-18 110m hurdles in 15.33 seconds, and Hussein Sabri claimed the Under-20 title in 16.64 seconds. Jolene Masoner secured the girls' Under-18 100m hurdles title in 15.03 seconds, while Rachel Gough (Ultimate) won the Under-16 80m hurdles in 12.65 seconds.
In the field events, Hussein Sabri (AIS) recorded the highest leap in the men's Under-20 high jump, clearing 1.75 meters, while Jolene Masoner (AIS) won the girls' Under-18 category with a jump of 1.65 meters. In the long jump, Ihsan Lawal (Ultimate) won the boys' Under-16 title with a distance of 6.05 meters, Jack Matthews (AIS) won the Under-18 category with 5.97 meters, and Annika Kraus (Ultimate) claimed the girls' Under-18 title with a leap of 4.81 meters.
Throws and Relay Events
The throwing competitions highlighted the exceptional performance of Charlotte Williams (Ultimate), who secured a double victory in the girls' Under-18 javelin throw (32.84 meters) and shot put (11.96 meters). For the boys' Under-16 category, Omar X (Titan) achieved double success by winning the javelin throw (35.40 meters) and shot put (12.13 meters). Meanwhile, Sahil Motwani (Ultimate) registered a distance of 39.90 meters to win the boys' Under-18 javelin throw, and Liam Peter (Ultimate) topped the shot put in the same age category with a throw of 13.65 meters.
The 4x100m relay events concluded with Ultimate Athletics Academy winning all female categories and the men's Under-18 category in 43.97 seconds. Titan Athletics Academy took first place in the men's Under-16 (46.20 seconds) and Under-20 (43.95 seconds) categories.
