Swedish Senior Officer Praises Dubai Police’s 'Bold Vision' and Commitment to Excellence
- June 22, 2026
Dubai: A senior Swedish police official has praised the UAE’s policing model, describing it as a forward-looking approach that combines innovation, proactive thinking, and a strong human dimension to help shape the future of policing worldwide.
The remarks were made by Senior Superintendent Eric Stassais of the Swedish Police Authority, one of the participants in the third edition of the specialised Policing Innovation and Leadership (PIL) Diploma organised by Dubai Police in cooperation with Rabdan Academy.
Stassais, who serves in a strategic leadership role and has extensive experience in intelligence, operations, and organisational leadership, said his participation in the programme was driven by his belief that the future of policing depends on international cooperation.
“I was motivated by a strong belief that the future of policing is global, and that we grow stronger by learning from one another,” he said. “The opportunity to engage with leaders from across the world, combined with the United Arab Emirates’ clear ambition and leadership in innovation, made this programme truly unique.”
A Great Privilege
Representing Sweden, which participated in the international diploma for the first time, Stassais described the programme as “a great privilege” and said it provided a valuable opportunity to engage with security leaders from around the world in an atmosphere of humility, openness, and mutual learning.
Reflecting on the most valuable lesson he gained, the Swedish officer stressed the importance of understanding people and challenges deeply before taking action.
“The most valuable lesson was the importance of truly understanding people and problems before acting,” he said. “Beyond strategies and structures, it reminded me that policing is ultimately about trust, responsibility, and human connection.”
A Deep Human Experience
Stassais noted that the programme’s human dimension left the strongest impression on him, as it brought together officers from 45 countries to exchange experiences, perspectives, and professional practices.
“Meeting colleagues from 45 countries, sharing experiences, challenges, and perspectives created something much deeper than professional exchange. It created understanding, respect, and lasting relationships,” he said.
During the diploma, Stassais shared Sweden’s experience in intelligence led policing, leadership in complex environments, and interagency collaboration. He also highlighted the importance of promoting core policing values.
“I shared our values of trust, transparency, and responsibility while also learning from others with great respect,” he said.
He added that these values enriched discussions surrounding trust building within police organisations and society, noting that many countries face similar policing challenges despite differing contexts.
High Professionalism
Speaking about Dubai Police, Stassais expressed deep admiration for the organisation’s level of advancement and its future oriented mindset.
“I was deeply impressed not only by the level of innovation and technological advancement, but by the mindset behind it, the courage to think ahead and the commitment to excellence,” he said.
He also praised the professionalism and hospitality he experienced throughout the programme.
“I experienced a level of hospitality, professionalism, and genuine respect that made a lasting personal impression on me,” he added.
Stassais stressed that the experience would have a direct impact on his work upon returning to Sweden.
“I return with new perspectives, stronger international relationships, and a renewed commitment to lead with openness, trust, and curiosity,” he said.
International Cooperation Is Essential
The Swedish officer emphasised that international cooperation is no longer optional in addressing modern security challenges.
“The challenges we face do not respect borders, and neither can our solutions,” he said. “What we build together through trust, shared knowledge, and mutual respect will define the future of policing.”
Concluding his remarks, Stassais described the programme as a defining experience in his professional journey.
“A truly meaningful and humbling experience that I will carry with me throughout my career,” he said, expressing gratitude to the UAE for its leadership, hospitality, and the respect shown to him both professionally and personally.
