Dubai Police Welcomes Delegation from the Future Experts Programme

Dubai: Brigadier Dr. Expert Hamdan Al Ghasia, Director of the Future Foresight Centre, welcomed a delegation from the sixth cohort of the Future Experts Programme, part of the Dubai Future Foundation's initiatives, in the presence of his deputy, Lieutenant Colonel Omar Khalifa Balobida Al Suwaidi. The visit aimed to highlight Dubai Police's pioneering experience in the field of future foresight.

At the outset of the meeting, Brigadier Al Ghasia welcomed the visiting delegation, affirming the Future Foresight Centre's commitment to cooperation in various aspects and activities, including the scientific aspect, the preparation of predictive assessments, and identifying the expected dimensions of future foresight.

Brig. Al Ghasia presented the delegation with the centre's main objectives and organisational structure, noting its future plans for the coming years. He also highlighted the vision, mission, values, and creative ideas and initiatives that contribute to developing and improving institutional performance. In addition, he discussed the working mechanism of the Strategic Foresight Room and the process of issuing reports in light of future trends and challenges.

Brig. Al Ghasia explained that the Future Foresight Centre has personnel with expertise and competencies, contributing to the support and development of advanced academic curricula and the organisation of innovative training courses. “These courses qualify trainees to deal with contemporary developments and current security challenges, alongside scientific and research efforts,” he added.

He also indicated that the centre has distinguished efforts in the fields of future foresight, early warning, planning and implementing awareness programmes, and analysing their returns and outcomes. “This contributes to elevating police performance, encouraging the introduction of innovative ideas, helping achieve creative development goals, and improving police services across various fields,” Brig. Al Ghasia continued.

At the end of the visit, Brig. Al Ghasia emphasised the importance of these meetings, which aim to integrate and unify coordination efforts from all entities and institutions in the country to enhance joint efforts and maximise their outcomes for the benefit of society and its development. He stressed the need to activate joint efforts to advance the future of society and its development – the core focus that everyone strives for a bright future, as this is a fundamental pursuit of Dubai Police, which always seeks to harness its capabilities to achieve it.

Forensic Science
The delegation then visited the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, where they were introduced to the various departments and sections within the General Department, their working mechanisms, best practices, initiatives, developments, current and future projects, as well as research, publications, and the latest forensic technologies.
They also listened to an explanation about the role of the International Centre for Forensic Sciences in supporting forensic research at the regional and international levels, and the training courses it offers. The delegation also learned about the centre's international participation in events covering all scientific specialisations in the field of forensic evidence.

SPS
At the end of the delegation's visit to the Dubai Police General Command HQ, they were briefed on the smart and innovative service system provided by Dubai Police through the Smart Police Station (SPS), which offers integrated police services 24 hours a day without any human intervention. It allows the public to complete their criminal, traffic, certification, permitting, and community services in accordance with global standards.
