Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by 'Your Commitment is Happiness' initiative, and in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, conducted a two‑day awareness programme for swimmers participating in the Dubai Open Swimming Championships. The programme focused on the responsibilities of sports spectators in stadiums as outlined in Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 concerning the security of sports facilities and events.

The event targeted more than 1,100 male and female swimmers from over 50 clubs and sports academies across the UAE.

During the awareness session, Lieutenant Nabet Sultan Al Ketbi affirmed that the "Your Commitment is Happiness" initiative aims to enhance communication with sports fans from all segments of society and foster a culture of positive cheering that reflects the UAE's civilised image in sports stadiums.

He explained: "The initiative works to raise public awareness of the limits of cheering and the seriousness of expressing negative emotions towards others. It is essential for the public to fully understand their responsibilities under Federal Law on the Security of Sports Facilities and Events.

Lt. Al Ketbi pointed out that the provisions of Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 ensure the implementation of all safety measures for athletes and various facilities across the country. “This is achieved through advanced security standards and protocols that align with international regulations for organising security at sports festivals and events at the highest levels,” he concluded.
