Dubai: The Child and Women Protection Department at Dubai Police's General Department of Human Rights has emphasised the importance of direct and continuous supervision of children while they are near swimming pools or beaches during the summer holidays, when water activities are at their peak. The department warned that even a few seconds of inattention could lead to tragic drowning incidents.

The department urged parents not to leave children unattended inside or near pools or beaches, and not to rely solely on lifeguards or flotation devices as a substitute for direct supervision. They also stressed the importance of choosing safe swimming spots and adhering to warning signs and safety instructions.

The Child and Women Protection Department also explained that children can drown silently in a matter of seconds, often without those around them noticing. “This makes it essential for an adult to stay close to them at all times while they are in the water,” they added.

Furthermore, the department reaffirmed that prevention begins with awareness and the consistent application of safety measures, wishing all families a safe and enjoyable summer.
