Positive Spirit Council Continues \'Shade and Reward\' Initiative for Fifth Week

Dubai: The Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police has continued carrying out the "Shade and Reward" initiative for the fifth consecutive week in the Nad Al Sheba area, in cooperation with the General Department of Police Stations, represented by Nad Al Sheba Police Station and the Criminal Community Support Section, the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, the General Department of Traffic, the General Department of Human Rights, the General Department of Operations, the General Department of Logistical Support, and the Dubai Police Health Centre. This comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life, spread preventive awareness, and reinforce the values of community responsibility towards labourers.

The initiative was attended by over 800 labourers, with meals and umbrellas distributed in a humanitarian atmosphere that reflected the commitment of Dubai Police and its partners to caring for labourers and appreciating their continued efforts in supporting the development journey.

The initiative included raising labourers' awareness of the dangers of heat stress, in line with the steadfast commitment to the safety of human resources and the provision of a safe working environment, particularly as the summer season reaches its peak. This also aligns with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's announcement on enforcing the midday work break policy from 15 June to 15 September, which prohibits work under direct sunlight and in open areas from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. The awareness efforts also covered educating labourers on the concept of heat stress and methods of prevention, contributing to preserving the safety of Human Resources.

The Dubai Police Health Centre participated in the initiative by providing health awareness and guidance to labourers, enhancing their understanding of the importance of heat stress prevention and the adoption of proper health practices during working hours, thereby contributing to their health and safety and instilling a preventive culture.

The initiative was attended by Advisor Dr. Khaled Al Salami, Honorary Member of the "Thank You for Your Giving" Volunteer Team, who praised the efforts of Dubai Police and its partners in implementing humanitarian initiatives targeting labourers, affirming that such initiatives embody the values of giving and solidarity that distinguish the UAE community.

Meanwhile, Ms. Fatima Ahmed Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, affirmed that the continuation of the "Shade and Reward" initiative for the fifth consecutive week reflects its success in reaching the largest segment of labourers and translates the vision of the wise leadership in placing people at the centre of attention and as the foundation of sustainable development.

She stated: "We take pride in the continuation of this humanitarian initiative, which has become a weekly platform to convey Dubai Police's message of caring for people, reaching labourers at their workplaces, and providing them with moral and awareness support, in appreciation of their dedication and their pivotal role in the journey of development and urbanisation."

Ms. Buhajeer added: "The integrated efforts of the various general departments of Dubai Police, our strategic partners, and volunteers reflect a pioneering national model of joint institutional work, and affirm that community responsibility is a deeply rooted culture that contributes to enhancing quality of life and embedding the values of cohesion and humanity that characterise the UAE."

The initiative concluded amid significant engagement from labourers, who expressed their thanks and gratitude for this humanitarian initiative, affirming that the care and attention they experienced reflects the commitment of the UAE and its wise leadership to providing a safe working environment, preserving human dignity, and embedding a culture of appreciation for all members of society.
