Indian Consulate in Dubai Showcases Madhya Pradesh’s Distinctive ODOP Products

Dubai: The Consulate General of India (CGI), Dubai, organised an exhibition showcasing the rich diversity of products from Madhya Pradesh under the Government of India’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav during his visit to Dubai to participate in the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Congress.

The showcase featured a curated selection of traditional products and crafts representing Madhya Pradesh’s diverse cultural and artisanal heritage. Among the products on display were Betul’s Bell Metal Craft, Chanderi handlooms from Ashoknagar, Batik Dyeing Art from Ujjain, Maheshwari sarees from Khargone and Gwalior carpets.

The exhibition highlighted the craftsmanship, cultural heritage and entrepreneurial potential of artisans and producers across the state. It also sought to draw attention to the economic potential of traditional industries and locally produced goods.

Connecting Indian Products With Global Markets
The ODOP initiative aims to provide distinctive local products with greater international visibility and create opportunities to connect artisans, producers and entrepreneurs with global markets, buyers and business communities.

The Dubai exhibition also underscored the potential of India’s traditional industries and artisan communities to contribute to export growth and broader economic development.

As part of its efforts to promote ODOP products internationally, the Indian Consulate in Dubai plans to organise similar exhibitions featuring products from different Indian states during major incoming state delegations.

Such showcases will provide visiting delegations with an opportunity to present their states’ unique products and capabilities while introducing them to the Indian diaspora, UAE-based businesses, investors and the wider international community.

Encouraging Support for Indian Artisans
The Consulate has also encouraged members of the Indian diaspora and the wider Indian community in the UAE to support Indian artisans, producers and entrepreneurs by promoting and purchasing Indian products.

According to the Consulate, greater international exposure and consumer support can help accelerate the internationalisation of India’s diverse local products and create new opportunities for artisans and small businesses.

The initiative forms part of CGI Dubai’s broader efforts to strengthen India-UAE economic and commercial relations and create greater opportunities for Indian products, enterprises and artisans in international markets.
