Sharjah: His Excellency Major General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, visited the Wadi Al Helo area on a field tour aimed at reviewing the region's needs and future requirements in the areas of prevention, safety, and emergency response.

The tour included a meeting with the governor of the region, a visit to a government nursery, and a tour of several sites, supporting the Authority's plans to develop its services and enhance its preparedness in various areas of the Emirate of Sharjah.

Reviewing Wadi Al Helo's safety needs
His Excellency began the visit by meeting with Khamis bin Saeed Al Mazrouei, Governor of the Wadi Al Helo area, where they reviewed the region's most prominent needs and discussed requirements related to strengthening the safety and protection system there. The meeting also addressed the projects ordered by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to be implemented in the region, and ways to support them with proactive plans that ensure the provision of integrated civil defence services that meet the needs of the residents and keep pace with the region's growth.

Assessing emergency response and preparedness
During his tour of Wadi Al Helo, His Excellency the Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority was briefed on the area's nature and facilities, as well as several vital and service-oriented sites. This allowed him to directly assess operational requirements and response needs in the region. The tour also addressed ways to enhance field coordination and improve preparedness for handling various reports and incidents, in addition to studying future needs in line with new projects and the anticipated expansion of services and facilities.

His Excellency visited the Wadi Al Helo Civil Defence Authority station, where he met with officers and personnel. He directed them to maintain the highest levels of readiness and preparedness to respond to various reports and incidents. He also visited a government-run nursery in the area, inspecting its facilities and internal environment. He emphasised the importance of establishing the highest standards of prevention and safety in educational facilities dedicated to children. He stressed the need to enhance the readiness of these facilities to handle emergencies, ensure clear evacuation exits and the safety of equipment, and raise awareness among administrative and educational staff to contribute to providing a safe environment that protects children and nursery staff.

Major General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi affirmed that the visit is part of the Authority's approach based on field monitoring and direct communication with officials in various areas of the Emirate. He added, "We are keen to closely examine the needs of the residents and the nature of each area, enabling us to develop response plans and direct resources according to realistic and well-considered requirements. Field visits are a fundamental pillar in enhancing preparedness and ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of prevention and protection services to all areas of the Emirate."

His Excellency added, "The anticipated development projects in the Wadi Al Helou area, under the vision and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, necessitate proactive planning that keeps pace with the area's growth and strengthens its security and safety infrastructure. The Authority is working to assess future needs and enhance the readiness of its teams and services to ensure rapid response, protect lives and property, and provide a safe and sustainable environment for residents, especially children in educational facilities and nurseries."

Enhancing safety standards for children
This visit comes within the framework of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority's commitment to monitoring the needs of various areas of the Emirate and strengthening cooperation with local officials to support the emergency prevention and response system. The Authority continues to develop its operational plans according to an approach based on proactivity, integration and sustainable readiness, in line with development projects in Wadi Al Helo, and to establish the highest standards of safety and quality of life for members of the community.
