Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired, on Tuesday, a meeting of the Council, held at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC).
The Council discussed a number of matters related to government work in Sharjah and plans to develop various services in line with comprehensive development and continued growth across all sectors.
The Council expressed its deepest thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on the occasion of His Highness’s approval to raise the standard of decent living in Sharjah to AED 20,000 per month. The increase covers families receiving social assistance from the Sharjah Government, retirees and Sharjah Government employees, in addition to salary increases for Sharjah Government employees and the approval of a part-time work system targeting senior citizens.
The Council affirmed that these approvals reflect the Sharjah Ruler’s commitment to ensuring a decent standard of living for Emirati families and safeguarding their stability by meeting their needs and keeping pace with changing circumstances. This contributes to strengthening family bonds and raising children in a safe and stable environment. The approvals also build on the Sharjah Ruler’s pioneering initiatives to build and advance society through an integrated and comprehensive system.
In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at enabling government entities to perform their roles more efficiently and enhancing their institutional capabilities to achieve higher levels of excellence and sustainability in government work, the Council approved the proposed overall organisational structure of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD).
The approval comes as part of the Sharjah Government’s commitment to developing the government work system in accordance with best practices. It also strengthens the important role of the SSSD in providing social support and assistance to families and beneficiaries, and protecting and caring for members of society. The Council directed its General Secretariat to submit the proposed organisational structure to the Sharjah Ruler.
The Council reviewed the response of the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey (SDTPS) to the recommendations of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) regarding its discussion of the department’s policy. The response emphasised the importance of the recommendations put forward by the SCC, which reflect the voice of society and support government roles, while also highlighting efforts to put the recommendations into effect.
