Sharjah Voluntary Work Award opens doors to new opportunities
- September 15, 2026
Sharjah: The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work organised a virtual awareness session for employees of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services to introduce the award, its objectives, categories and participation process, and to encourage them to nominate their volunteer and community initiatives and to highlight their contributions.
The session was delivered by Sheikha Al Sirkal, Participation and Community Awareness Coordinator, who outlined the award’s objectives to promote a culture of volunteering, strengthen social responsibility and encourage individuals and institutions to develop impactful initiatives that serve the community.
She also highlighted the award’s main categories, participation criteria and nomination process, explaining the opportunities available to participants to document their volunteer efforts and initiatives and to enter the categories that best reflect their achievements.
The session also focused on the award’s key categories and criteria, with particular attention to the Himmah Award for Best Volunteer Participation, which is dedicated to people of determination. The category reflects the award’s commitment to recognising their efforts, achievements and volunteer contributions, while providing them with opportunities to play an active role in volunteering and community work.
In this regard, Hanan Al Khayyal, Executive Director of the award, said that the introduction of the Himmah category reflects the award’s commitment to empowering people of determination, celebrating their abilities and contributions, and reinforcing the principle that giving and volunteering are open to all. This, she noted, helps strengthen their presence and positive participation in society.
Al Khayyal also emphasised the importance of participating in the award as an opportunity to recognise volunteer efforts and to highlight humanitarian and community initiatives. She noted that the participation of employees and students of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services reflects their valuable efforts to support and empower people of determination and to enhance their participation in society.
The session forms part of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work’s efforts to broaden participation, attract outstanding talent and initiatives, and promote a culture of volunteering and giving, which are key pillars in building a cohesive and sustainable society.
