Dubai Police Conducts More Than 120 Field Visits to Schools and Universities

Dubai: The “Miqdam” initiative, launched by the Dubai Police Academy to qualify officer cadets to spread security, traffic, and community awareness, has achieved field results reaching more than 17,507 students. Through the implementation of more than 120 awareness visits to schools and universities, the initiative covered 12 security and community topics, as part of Dubai Police's efforts to enhance community prevention, protect students from negative behaviours, and strengthen their role in protecting society and spreading a culture of security and safety.

The initiative attracted 57 officer cadets in their second, third, and fourth years at the Dubai Police Academy. They were selected after passing assessment stages including personal interviews and level-determination tests, before undergoing specialised training programmes inside and outside the country to prepare them to deliver awareness lectures in Arabic and English, using innovative interactive methods suited to various age groups.

Preparing Future Leaders

Brigadier Dr. Sultan Al Jamal, Acting Assistant Commandant for Academy and Training Affairs, affirmed that the "Miqdam" initiative embodies Dubai Police's strategic direction in investing in young national talents and preparing a generation of police cadres qualified academically and in the field. He noted that these cadres are capable of keeping pace with security and community changes and enhancing the concept of preventive security through awareness and effective partnership with educational institutions.

He said that the initiative represents an innovative model for linking police education with field application by enabling officer cadets to employ their knowledge and skills in delivering awareness lectures within schools and universities. He noted that reaching more than 17,507 beneficiaries and implementing more than 120 field visits reflect the importance of involving youth in spreading security culture and consolidating positive behaviours among new generations.

Brigadier Dr. Sultan Al Jamal added: "At the Dubai Police Academy, we are keen to prepare the police officer of the future to be a leader and positive influencer in his community, whose role is not limited to enforcing the law, but extends to awareness, prevention, and building bridges of trust with community members, through possessing communication and persuasion skills and the ability to deliver security messages in modern and innovative ways."

He noted that qualifying officer cadets through specialised training programmes inside and outside the country reflects the Academy's keenness to adopt the best educational and training practices and develop leadership and personal skills among its students. He affirmed that the initiative contributes to preparing ambassadors of security awareness capable of dealing with various age groups and understanding the challenges facing society.

Brigadier Dr. Sultan Al Jamal stressed the importance of sustaining the initiative, developing its awareness topics, and measuring its community impact, in a way that enhances the Dubai Police Academy's role in supporting the security and safety system. He affirmed that investing in youth awareness and qualifying them to bear responsibility represents a fundamental pillar in building a safer and more stable society.

Investing in Young Talents

For his part, Major Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ahli, Head of the Legislation Section at the Legal Affairs Department at Dubai Police and General Supervisor of the "Miqdam" initiative, said that the initiative embodies the keenness of Dubai Police and the Dubai Police Academy to invest in young national talents and prepare cadres capable of delivering security, traffic, and community messages in modern and innovative ways.

He added: "Supervising the training of officer cadets during their time in Britain was a distinguished experience, embodying the keenness of Dubai Police and the Dubai Police Academy to invest in the promising talents of our youth and prepare them to be lecturers capable of delivering the security, traffic, and community message using a modern language and innovative methods that contribute to building a more aware and secure society."

He also explained that the initiative aims to enable officer cadets to move from the stage of acquiring knowledge to employing it in the field through direct communication with school and university students and discussing the most prominent issues that affect their daily lives, in a way that enhances the concept of proactive prevention and consolidates community responsibility among young police cadres.

4 Weeks in Britain

The initiative's training programme arranged for participants to travel to the United Kingdom for four weeks, where they received specialised instruction at the Kaplan International Institute at the University of Liverpool. The training covered the art of public speaking and delivery, linguistic analysis during lecture delivery, debate skills, critical thinking, and dealing with challenges.

The programme also included workshops and academic, sports, and cultural activities that contributed to developing communication, persuasion, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, and enhancing self-confidence and the ability to address the public.

The qualification stages included courses inside the country to develop delivery skills in Arabic and English, select security topics, and prepare presentations, leading to the implementation of lectures and field visits in educational institutions.

A Plan for Expansion & Sustainability of Awareness

The Dubai Police Academy has developed a field plan for the 2026-2027 academic year, including the continued delivery of awareness lectures in schools and universities through specialised groups focused on combating bullying, electronic crimes, harassment, and drug prevention.

The plan includes weekly visits to educational institutions, providing the necessary training materials, along with offering incentives, medals, and encouragement gifts to distinguished participants.

The initiative was implemented in cooperation with the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the Hemaya International Centre, the General Department of Traffic, the General Department of Training, the Legal Affairs Department, and the General Department of Human Rights, within the framework of integrating police efforts to develop specialised awareness content that keeps pace with the needs of society.

Through “Miqdam”, the Dubai Police Academy seeks to prepare a generation of police cadres capable of combining security knowledge, leadership skills, and community communication, and contributing to building a more aware and secure educational environment.
