Dubai:The first Arab Region Yoga Instructors Conference was held on 26th & 27th April, 2019 at University of Dubai Campus, Academic City, Dubai. The conference was jointly organized by Science India Forum & FOI Events. Consulate General of India & Ministry of Ayush were the patrons of the event. The theme of the event was “YOGA for Global Peace & Harmony”.

The Conference was inaugurated by Consul General of India, Sri. Vipul. In his speech he emphsised the importance of Yoga in one’s day to day life and the initiative taken by our Prime Minister to make the Yoga in an International event. He declared that steps will be initiated to standardize the Yoga Institutions and Certification procedures in UAE.
Mr. Ajay Khimji, the Chairman of Conference wished the conference all success and lauded its organisers in making the event a grand success.

Mr. Ghazi Al Madani, Executive of Dubai Sports Council was the Guest of Honour at the function. He assured all possible help in setting up the accreditation procedures in coordination with the Ministry as well as Consulate offices.

Dr. Eesa Bastaki, President of Dubai University in his speech emphasized the need to have Yoga in one’s daily life and informed that steps will  be taken to put the Yoga syllabus in college curriculum.

Dr. Kota Reddy, Academic President of Manipal University also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Ram Vaidya delivered the key note speech. In his speech, he dwelt upon the importance of Yoga for Universal Peace & Harmony. The current turmoils of terrorism, recession, global warming, family unrests etc an be cured by spreading the Yoga message and will help to unite the world.

Mr. Mohan, General Secretary of Science India Forum delivered Welcome speech and Mr. Akhil Mohan, Convenor of conference delivered the Vote of Thanks.
A total of 135 delegates from 7 Arab Countries as well as from Russia & Kenya attended the two days conference. Eminent speakers took classes on different practices of Yoga and on all Yoga aspects.The conference concluded on 27th evening with a valedictory session.

I congratulate Science India Forum & FOI  for taking this initiative to disseminate the knowledge of Yoga in accordance with the vision of our Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi – “India to take the lead in making affordable holistic healthcare available to the world”.  I am also happy that the Ministry of AYUSH has extended its full support to the event.        The Government of India, for the last few years, has been making a determined effort to promote and spread the benefits of Yoga throughout the world. The declaration of June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, the celebration of this occasion by people  the world over, the growing consciousness about the benefits of Yoga and holistic well-being are only a few of the key outcomes of this approach. At our Consulate in Dubai, we have always taken up the task of promoting Yoga by coordinating with local health authorities, specialists and practitioners.
The Arab Region and its Governments have been in the forefront in supporting Yoga and its benefits. Modernity offers a multitude of alternative choices in lifestyle and interestingly in the Arab Region, Yoga has appeared as a mechanism to express a healthy lifestyle and achieving inner peace. Currently, the Yoga Institutions/centers in the region are conducting events such as Breast Cancer Awareness, Yoga for charity, Yoga for diabetics and cancer care etc, demonstrating their social commitment in educating one and all the benefits of the system. It is in this backdrop, through ARYIC 2019, the organisers want to create more opportunities to understand the importance of healthy lifestyle and inner peace through Yoga.
This Conference will bring together Regional Yoga Instructors and Professionals to discuss the opportunities and challenges for YOGA and to develop possible strategies to make innovative healthcare services to the community.
ARYIC 2019 is expected to facilitate policy makers & Government in integrating  YOGA to the main stream of healthcare system.  Around 20 speakers and 400 delegates from different parts of the Arab Region will participate and make ARYIC 2019 a path breaking initiative.
