Dubai:To commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Consulate General of India, Dubai will organise a number of programmes in Dubai and northern Emirates involving local community , host Government and its various authorities such as Dubai Sports Gouncil and Dubai Municipality.

 

On October 2, 2019 (Wednesday), a Walk for Peace and Tolerance will be organised at 6 AM at Zabeel Park. All peoples from different nationalities and all Indian nationals are welcome to join the Walk and also participate in 4 kms race around Zabeel Park at sharp 6 AM. Winners of these races will be given prizes of return ticket to visit India by Air India and also other  attractive  prizes. There  will be a small Gandhi Bhajan and meditation session outside Gate No 4 of the Zabeel Park.

 

After the Walk/Run, there will be painting and debate competition in the Consulate among school children from 0930 hrs onwards. More details can be obtained from  our  Education  Wing  (edu  ubai  ea  ov  n).  In   the   following months, there will be competitions for school children in various categories for Skit

,inter school quiz as well as short video making competition in which children are encouraged to participate and details may be sought from  the Education  Wing  of the Consulate.

 

In the morning itself various schools in Dubai and Northern Emirates will organise a workshop for students to assemble solar study lamps. We  are distributing 200 solar kits free of costs to different schools and CG will be visiting Indian school Sharjah, Boys wing at 1030 Hrs to encourage and witness  students who will be assembling solar kits, It is worth mentioning that more than 1000 students will be assembling solar lamps in the premises of Sharjah Indian School , Boys Wing from 0800 hrs onwards.

 

In the evening, the Consulate will hold  the  programme  to  remember Gandhiji where all community  members  are invited,  The  programme  will consist of speech of Consul General Vipul,  Gandhi  Bhajan  and best  debate  demonstration in the competition, followed by award ceremony for winners for Race, school competitions etc.

 

On Friday, October 4, 2019, Indian Consulate in association with Indian Association Ajman will be holdlng a Cycle Rally which wlll start from Indian Association new complex from 0800 Hrs. Consul General Vipul  will  flag  off the cycle rally to commemorate this rally to Mahatma Gandhi.

 

Several other organisations have also confirmed celebrating Gandhi Jayanti this week, IBPC Dubai will also be celebrating Gandhi Jayanti on Oct 5, 2019.

 

In the following weeks, Consulate will also organise a special exhibition on work, principles and life  of Mahatma  Gandhi  and this exhibition  will be displayed at different locations in Dubai and northern Emirates, details of which will  be shared in due course.

 

 There will also  be  some  interesting  quizzes  on  various  FM  channels  this week, who  have partnered  with us, where  the RJs  will interact  with listeners  as to how much they know about life and principles of  Gandhiji  and  will  be  given cash prizes/gift hampers.

 

A number of other activities are also lined up to implement in the weeks to come, in Dubai and northern Emirates, details for which will be shared in due course.
